How and where to get free gambling lessons in Las Vegas.

Finding Free Lessons

If you are in Las Vegas and would like to play some of the exiting looking table games but have no idea how to learn you will be pleasantly surprised to find out that it is not only easy to find ways to learn but that they are free as well. You can practice playing in a pretend setting with a real dealer teaching you how to play the game.

The first thing you can do when you check in to your hotel is ask if the hotel has free gaming lessons. They should be able to tell you at the front desk or you will be directed to ask a pit boss who should be able to tell you everything you need to know.

If you are shy and don't want to try and learn from an actual person there a lot of the hotels have a channel on the television set that will tell you how to play the games.

Not all places that have lessons will teach every game so even if your hotel has free gaming lessons it does not necessarily mean they will have lessons to a game you want to learn so it helps to know other hotels and casinos offer gaming lessons as well.

Usually gambling lessons are taught in the morning when the Casino is slow, but there are a handful of places that have lessons at other times of the day. If you don't or can't catch the lessons at the time offered by any of the large casinos many dealers are quite accommodating and will help new players learn the games. If you manage to get a friendly table you will also find other players who will be willing to help you as well. If you are going to skip the lessons and go straight to the tables for your education go on tables with the lowest minimum bets. The tables will have small little signs on the side toward the back of the table that will tell you what that tables minimum bet is. These signs are also in different colors so you will easily know what table has what minimums just by seeing the color of the little plastic sign. The people at the lower tables are usually your more casual gamblers out to have a good time and will likely be more friendly and understanding to beginners.

Hitting a table with a higher minimum as a beginner is unwise, because you will be playing with more serious gamblers who have more at stake, they will not likely appreciate a beginner at their table and could very well be more annoyed than helpful. Plus many serious players believe that if you do not play your cards correctly you could cause the whole table to lose. If you do this on a higher amount table you will likely hear some not so choice words from the other players at the table.

Recommended Locations For Free Lessons

Here is a listing of places and times of the casinos that I am I am aware of that have free gambling lessons.

Sometimes the most fun places to gamble are the casinos that are off the strip or are independent Casinos that are not part of a hotel. One of my favorite places to gamble because it is relaxed and fun is Boulder Station which is just off of the strip. They are one of the few that have afternoon classes.

Fitzgeralds

Fitzeralds is also a fun place they have Craps on Wednesdays at 10:30 AM and on Fridays and Saturdays at 11:30 AM and Texas Holdem at 10:00 AM.

The Golden Nugget

The Golden Nugget has one of the larger varieties of lessons.daily they have:
Blackjack at 12:00 PM
Craps 10:00 AM

and Texas Hold Em Monday through Friday at 10:00 AM.

Hard Rock

The Hard Rock has poker lessons on Sundays at 10:00 AM and you will have access to a complimentary Bloody Mary Bar.

The Luxor

The Luxor also has a nice variety of lessons but mostly just on the weekends. They have Texas Holdem daily at 9:00 Am and 2:00 PM they also have Roulette, Craps, and Black Jack on Fridays and Saturdays at 11:00 AM.

The Imperial Palace has

The Excaliber also has real poker lessons and by that I mean where players play agains players, every day at 2:00 PM, or at least they did last time I was in Vegas. The lessons take place in the poker room.

If you are a late riser and miss the early morning lessons you can catch some lessons on Texas Holdem and Omaha at Boulder Station at 2:00 PM.

The Las Vegas Hilton has Black Jack lessons at Mon-Fri at 2:00 PM and Craps at 10:30 AM and 4:00 PM, as well as 4 other table games starting at 3:15 PM & Texas Holdem again at 5:00 PM

Thanks for the info. My husband and I plan on going out to vegas this summer for a weeks vacation. I have always wanted to sit at the tables but, I have chickened out every time, just because I had no idea how to play in a gambling setting, only at home. So thank you.

Glad I could help, I don't know if you saw my comment about watching how to play some games on your hotel casino television sets. Most of them have an instructional channel. Have fun in Las Vegas, there is so much to do there that does not even include gambling.
