Vail, Colorado is a beautiful resort outside of Denver. It was a farm community until the 1950's and has evolved into a world-class ski resort.

Vail, Colorado

My husband and I visited Vail quite a few years ago with the Wilmington Ski Club. Off we flew into Denver and took a chartered bus to Vail. There we were escorted to beautiful condos right next to the chair lift. The condos were The Lodge at Lionshead. I could see the heated pool outside my window and couldn't wait to get into that. These condos are within a minute ot two walk to the gondola and the express chair lift. The condos were very spacious. We were in a three-bedroom condo and each had a private bath. The furnishing were beautiful and comfortable. I was a very happy camper.

Breakfast and dinner was included in our trip at the restaurant next to the condo. I have never had better food in my life. One night I had fresh trout - it tasted so fresh I thought they caught it 5 minutes before they cooked it! My husband enjoyed a rack of lamb which he said was the best he has ever had. I wish I could remember the name of this restaurant.

The chair lift take you to the top of the mountain where the views cannnot be beat. The slopes are well maintained and there are easy slopes for the novice skiers and double diamonds for the expert skiers. Something for everyone! The back bowls invite the most advanced skiier to this wilderness area. The back bowl area is not for the novice.

After a day of skiing, there is the apres ski hour. There are many bars and cafes in Vail and each offers a fireplace with comfortable furniture for you to relax and enjoy the early evening with your favotite drink before dinner. Conversations and happiness abound in this relaxing time after that last, long trip down the mountain.

If you enjoy skiing, I know you will love Vail. The snow is powder, the weather can be warm and sunny - keep using sun screen - and bring your sun goggles. You will need them. Plan a trip to Vail now - spring skiing will be starting soon. Enjoy!
