Colorado calls to the young and the young at heart. From sand dunes to towering Rocky Mountains, from emerald-green forests to enchanting waterfalls, nature is everywhere in the state of Colorado. Nature’s beauty along with some wonderful cities makes Colorado an ideal place to live, work and visit in America.

Attractions in Colorado

The Rocky Mountains or “Rockies” are a must visit attraction in Colorado. It is a major mountain range in western North America. Moreover, the snow-filled Colorado Rockies are a breathtaking site and every photographer’s delight. The mountains have spread across several regions of the country, but the range’s highest peak, Mount Elbert, is located in Colorado. Snow-melt runoff fills a reservoir in the Rockies near Dillon. Every year, the recreational opportunities and the scenic areas of the Colorado Rockies pull millions of tourists to Colorado. People from all over the world visit the sites for camping and hiking. Colorado Rockies also attracts thousands of snowboarders and skiers every winter.

From the Rocky Mountains we now come to Denver. Denver is a young city full of energy. It is also the capital of Colorado. Sunny weather and proximity to the mountains have earned Denver the reputation of a very active place. You can spend a good time in the mountains by either skiing in the winter or camping during the summer. The city has over two hundred parks. These parks provide ample recreation opportunities for both Denverites and visitors. It is home to a large number of local and national breweries. Denver also welcomes visitors from around the world when it hosts the annual Great American Beer festival every fall.

The city of Colorado Springs is located close to the base of one of the most famous American mountains, Pikes Peak, at the eastern edge of the southern Rocky Mountains. It is a popular destination for tourists seeking scenery and rock formations. The Garden of the Gods contains some spectacular rock formations including a huge balancing rock. The city is also home to a variety of historical, educational and cultural attractions which includes Museum of Anasazi Indian Culture, Cheyenne Mountain Heritage Center, the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center and the Peterson Air and Space Museum.

And last but not the least is the Browns Park National Wildlife Refuge. The refuge is just a hop, skip and a jump away from Colorado Springs. It acts as a shelter for about two hundred species of migratory birds and hence is a birdwatcher’s paradise. It is also home to animals like the pronghorn antelope and the river otter.
