Uttar Pradesh has varied attractions for all kinds of tourists. Besides ancient places of pilgrimage like Varanasi, Vindyachal, Ayodhya, Chitrakoot, Prayag, Bageshwar, Jagadeshwar, Naimisharanya, Mathura, Vrindavan, Rishikesh, Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri, Yamunotri, Nanak Matta.

Uttar Pradesh has varied attractions for all kinds of tourists. Besides ancient places of pilgrimage like Varanasi, Vindyachal, Ayodhya, Chitrakoot, Prayag, Bageshwar, Jagadeshwar, Naimisharanya, Mathura, Vrindavan, Rishikesh, Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri, Yamunotri, Nanak Matta. Hemkund sahib, Dewa Sharief Peerane -Kaliyer, Dargah of Sheikh Salem, Chisti in Fatehpur, Sarnath, Shravasti, Kushhinagar, Sankisa, Kampil, Piprahwa and Kaushambi, places like Agra, Ayodhya, Saranath, Varanasi, Lucknow, Mathura, Prayaga, Jhansi, Gorakhpur, Jaunpur, Kanauj, Mahoba, Devgarh, Bithur and Vindhyachal have rich treasures of Hindu and Islamic architecture and culture.
Uttar Pradesh has a treasure of magnificent scenic spots like Sangam in Allahabad, Hindon (Ghaziabad) and Tanda Waterfall in Mirzapur.

A famous cattle fair is held at Bateswar in Agra district

The biggest congregation, perhaps of the world, Kumbha Mela, is held at Allahabad and Haridwar every twelth year the latest being the one held at Alahabad in January 2001, Ardh Kumbh Mela is also held at these places every sixth year. In Allahabad, there is a Magh Mela every winter in January when people come and settle there for a month to have a dip in the holy Sangam every morning. Among other fairs is the fortnight long jhoola fair of Mathura, Vrinadavan and Ayodhya, when dolls are placed in Gold and Silver jhoolas or cradles. A dip in the Ganga on Kartik Pooranmasi is supposed to be the holiest and there are big congregations at Garhmukteswar, Soran, Rajghat, Kakora, Bithur, Kanpur, Allahabad, Varanasi and Ayodhya. A famous cattle fair is held at Bateswar in Agra district.
