Under the Sydney Harbour Bridge, Australia

On my recent cruise on the Sun Princess, from Sydney to Tasmania and back, we passed under the Sydney Harbour Bridge twice, both when departing and arriving back in Sydney.

Arriving Back in Sydney

Seven days after we'd departed the Sun Princess slipped quietly back into Sydney early in the morning, not too early though for a little photo taking to take place.
About six in the morning my sister decided to go up on deck to take her photos, while I preferred to satyr in the cabin and take the photos from the balcony.
The early morning light made the sight of both the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge look quite spectacular.

Approaching the Bridge

As we passed the Opera House we saw another cruise ship, berthed at Circular Quay. Ships that are too big to go under the bridge dock there, rather than at the new White Bay Cruise terminal.
Our ship, the Sun Princess continued cruising past, under the bridge, back to where it started from.

Passing Under the Bridge

Sydney Harbour Bridge is a spectacular sight, no matter where you view it from. Passing under it on a cruise ship is a rather special feeling. The excitement builds as you get closer and closer then, suddenly, there it is almost above you.
Its sheer size made you think about the marvel of designing and building it, way back in the early 20th century.
This photo was taken looking back after coming through the other side.

Almost the end of the trip

Slowly but surely the ship moved forward, pulling into dock just in time for breakfast. Sydney Harbour Bridge is definitely one structure that needs to be seen from many angles, both from the harbour and the shore.
I never tire of seeing it.
