This is a brief travel guide for Brixham in Devon.

Travel Destinations: Brixham, England

Brixham is in the south of Devon, and is one of the three towns on the Torbay coastline including Paington and Torquay. Overall, it is a town with a small harbor, and has a few interesting places to visit.

Fishing and the fishing industry has been a key industry of Brixham. As such, at the forefront of the town lies its harbor, with its collection of trawlers, fishing boats, and other naval vessels. From this harbor, Brixham Belle Cruisers run trips out to Paignton and Torquay. In addition to this, fishing trips can also be organised.

Also within the harbor lies the Golden Hind. This is a replica of the flagship Golden Hind. This museum ship can be boarded and toured.

Aside from this, Brixham also has a museum called the Brixham Heritage Museum. This museum provides a fascinating insight into Brixham's history, particularly its maritime and naval heritage. It has an extensive collection of artifacts, books, photographs, and other documents. The museum also has a particularly impressive variety of boat models on display.

Although Brixham has little in the way of sandy beaches, it does offer a stretch of coast between the main harbor out towards the national park of Berry Head. Here, there is the small shingled beach of Breakwater beach just beside Brixham marina. In addition to this, there is an outdoor swimming pool at Shoalstone beach which includes sea-water. This pool is freely open.

Along this scenic coastal path lies the nature reserve of Berry Head. Here, walks can be made across Berry Head towards the remains of an a Napoleonic fortification. This fortification now includes a public display which covers the history of the area and the fortification. At the tip of the Napoleonic fortification lies Berry head lighthouse which dates back to 1906.

Coastal walks can also be made around battery gardens. These gardens (otherwise called 'the battery gardens') have a couple of routes, and the remains of an old artillery battery.

Overall, accommodation in Brixham includes a few potential options. There are a few hotels in Brixham, such as the Berry Head hotel. Bed and Breakfasts and self catering accommodation are also in the area. In addition to this, Brixham also includes a few holiday camps such as Centry Touring Caravans and Hillhead Camp.

So overall, Brixham is a town which has some impressive coastline and a spectacular harbor. For more details on the town of Brixham, consider visiting the Brixham website.
