Bagbazar Durga Puja.

Bagbazar Durga Puja is famous all over the world for the outstanding traditional image. It is held in a park in Bagbazar.

Mela

A big mela is held in the park where the great Pandal and beautiful Goddess Durga and others Gods are kept.

Daker Shaaj.

Bagbazar Durga Puja has the traditional Daker Shaaj. It means that the decoration of Goddess Durga used to come by post.

British era.

When India was a colony of Britain and Kolkata the capital of India, the materials like thermocol for Goddess Durga used to come by ships.

Netaji.

A beautiful idol of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose is displayed on the pandal of Bagbazar Puja Committee where visitors can take photos.

Visitors

Visitors are allowed to take photos standing on both sides of the idol of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose in Bagbazar Durga Puja.

Ceiling.

There is excellent work in the ceilings of the Durga Pandal in Bagbazar. Devotees minutely watch the art work.

Pandal.

The pandal of Bagbazar Durga Puja is outstanding. It has a traditional theme and the devotees find the pandal very pious.

Theme

Other pujas in Kolkata are based on themes. But Bagbazar Durga is still traditional but it is most famous puja in Kolkata.

Huge Goddess

Goddess Durga or the idol of Goddess Durga and Laksmi, Saraswati, Ganesha, Karthika are huge in Bagbazar Durga Puja.

Ambience

Bagbazar Durga Puja had won Asian Paints Sharad Samman a number of times. Mainly the awards are won due to excellent ambience.

Mela.

In the famous mela around Bagbazar Pandal, the stalls sale essential commodities, food, crockery, other useful things.

Pushanjali

Mantras are chanted by priests inside the Pandal and on saptami and mahaashtami pushanjali is held in Bagbazar Durga Puja.

Bagbazar Durgapuja in Kolkata is called Sabeki puja.
