The Saltair Inn

Constructed in 1887, the Saltair Inn Waterfront Bed and Breakfast resides on over one acre of waterfront property, three blocks from the center of Bar Harbor.

Enjoy panoramic water views from the privacy of your own intimate, waterfront suite. Each of the inn's accommodations offers thoughtful appointments and amenities appreciated by modern travelers, without compromising the historic legacy of the home.


Master Suite

The only guest room on the first floor of the inn, the spacious Master Suite (780 sf) features a luxurious king-size four poster bed, two gas fireplaces, and an elegant private bath with a two-person Jacuzzi tub and a separate shower. Enjoy commanding views of Bar Island and Frenchman Bay from the grand private sitting room. ($195 - $355)

This bed was very comfortable. I felt like Princess and the Pea. Bathroom is large, with a jacuzzi and separate shower. Room has windows from floor to ceiling and view of Bar Island and Frenchman Bay. All in all - wonderful.

Acadia Suite

The Acadia Suite (525 sf) features a king-size bed, a see-through gas fireplace to enjoy from both the bedroom and sitting room, a spacious private bath with a second fireplace, claw-foot tub and separate shower, and panoramic views of the Bay from a private sitting room and second floor balcony deck. ($165 - $310).

Harbor Suite

The Harbor Suite (510 sf) offers a king-size cherry bed and gas fireplaces in both the bedroom and private sitting room. Enjoy views of the Bay from the bedroom, sitting room and second floor balcony deck. The private bath includes an oversized Victorian claw-foot tub with shower. ($165 - $310).

Chart Room

On the front side of the house, the Chart Room (345 sf) offers a four poster queen-size bed, gas fireplace and seating area within the room, and private bath. This quiet hideaway is located at the end of a secluded private hallway on the second floor, and offers views of the neighboring shingle-style Victorian mansions of historic West Street. ($125 - $240)

Cottage Room

Also on the front side of the inn overlooking the historic cottages of West Street, the Cottage Room (320 sf) features parque floors, a queen-size bed, and a newly renovated bath with a heated travertine floor and an extra deep air-jet tub. ($125 - $240)

The Saltair (1887) carries on the traditions of hospitality that founded the village of Bar Harbor so many years ago. Built as a guest house for Mr. and Mrs. William Rice, Saltair has been welcoming visitors to Bar Harbor for more than 120 years.
