Most of the bayou landscape is located in the state of Louisiana, although it stretches from Houston, Texas to Mobile, Alabama. The Louisiana bayou has countless tales, legends and stories that attract many people to it’s natural beauty.

The Louisiana bayou landscape is one of the most interesting landscapes in the world. Rich in wildlife, the bayous and swampland of Louisiana is host to nature lovers worldwide. It is full of interesting places and exciting adventures. The largest swamp in Louisiana is known as the Atchafalaya Basin. This swamp can be found located in south-central Louisiana. It is where the Gulf of Mexico and the Atchafalaya River meet. Here is where to find cypress trees, marshes and bayous. This is home to a variety of birds, wood ducks, eagles, ospreys, and pelicans. Communities along the Louisiana bayou display plantation homes and paddling trails. Fishing, boating, and kayaking are really popular in these areas.

Tours of the Louisiana swamp attract many people from all regions of the world. Pontoon boats offer guided tours deep into the bayou. Cajun and Creole cuisines are most popular in the bayou areas. The Creole Nature Trail was named a National Scenic Byway. The Louisiana Bayou Byway route covers 13 parishes and 500 miles. These parishes are Ascension, Assumption, Iberville, Point Coupee, East Baton Rouge, West Baton Rouge, East and West Feliciana, Livingston, St. Helena, St, Tammany, Tangipahoa, and Washington. These places offer culture, history, and much natural beauty. The Louisiana bayous are one of the most unique ecosystems in the United States. These bayous are really mysterious, unique and beautiful.
