My experience of visiting 'The Mill Inn' at Withington in the Cotswolds Gloucestershire

Country pubs in the Cotswolds, Gloucestershire In Winter.

If you are looking for a traditional and historic English pub in the heart of The Cotswolds then look no further than 'The Mill Inn' at Withington. It is situated near Cheltenham Spa in the beautiful county of Gloucestershire (GL54 4BE).

I visited this 16th Century Coach-House to rid myself of the Winter blues and was pleasantly surprised at what I found waiting for me inside. There is a welcoming atmosphere not only in the people but in the heady scent of the building. This beautiful pub has ample parking to the rear and there is even an old fashioned red telephone box across the road (now sadly becoming a rare sight in English towns).

On entering the Hobbit like building with rooms that lead off corridors and other rooms, you feel drawn into your own little adventure. This building oozes character with low ceilings and not a straight wall to be seen. Your nostrils are bombarded with smells of not only refreshments and food but that of warmth giving, open fires. This fantastic aroma leads you further into the Inn and is joined by the warm, welcoming chatter and laughter (no jukeboxes here) of staff, visitors and locals.

The arrangement of comfy yet traditional furniture makes for a cosy feeling essential for a good trip to the pub. The sound of a real fire makes you want to linger and pass away the time with good company and conversation .

Don't forget to look at the walls.

You may find your eyes wander to the numerous signs and ornaments that stylishly adorne all the rooms of 'The Mill' and these serve to add to your imagined trip back in time. You may book an overnight room on request. All in all a recomended Winter watering hole that will not disapoint.
