This page is about a lonely traveler. The importance of traveling alone.

Lone Traveler

I have traveled many places in past and recent times. I traveled those places with a group of friends or with family but I never traveled alone. When in a group, I don't have to care about anything on my itinerary, my group members used to take care of everything. All I need to give opinions, how I liked the place and what will be a good idea to go to a place or another. I just have to be a good companion for the journey. One problem with this type of travel is - you are guided by opinion of other people. if you liked a place and wanted to stay there for two more days, it will not be possible.

Whenever I had to take the responsibility of the group, I had to think about all group members needs, food habits etc . just to make sure all the members are welcomed and feel good about the tour. This is a hectic task and not always you can make all the people happy in your group. Basically when you are in a group and you have to take care of others, sometimes you'll miss the fun of the tour.

Other option is to go with some travel agency, where they will take care your all needs , you don't have to think about those. But the catch is the same as the travel with a group. You have to abide by their itinerary and in most cases those are not amendable.

The best travel I've ever had is when I traveled with my best friend, only two of us. The travel with someone who can understand you is better. I don’t have to bother about what she likes because I already know it and she also know all about me, my likes, dislikes everything.
I have traveled a lot and always by the three ways described above, but never have traveled alone. So, One day I take my backpack and start a journey alone. In the whole journey I have none to talk to but myself and some strangers, whom I met on train or bus. I used to keep a laptop with me, wherever I go. And before sleep I write about the day. I wrote about everything I have encountered, as if someone deep inside was telling me what to write. I wonder where that voice was, I have not heard him for many years. The voice didn’t left me, it was there always with me, but I never listened to him. And when I am a lonely traveler the voice came back and is my companion. This voice is my inner self,

Good morning, Jhon; how fortunate you were to find your voice again. Solitary journeys often do that. ~Marilyn

I often prefer to travel alone as few people want to spend days in the art galleries and museums. Good article
