Are you planning a trip to Salem Mass? Know where to go and what to see when you get there. A tourist's guide to the best attractions in Salem mass.

Salem Mass, an Awesome Place to Visit

The beautiful and historic seaside city of Salem is a tourist’s dream come true. With attractions and restaurants that are sure to please every member of your family, let Salem’s unique heritage take you back in time to a place of pilgrims, mariners and witches. Salem’s claim to fame is undeniably related to the witchcraft hysteria of 1692 when innocent people were accused, tried and executed for practicing witchcraft. Museums, cafe’s, history lessons and ghost tours await your arrival, so hop on board the Salem Trolley and let the fun begin.

Museums in Salem

There are two museums dedicated to the witch trials. The Salem Witch Museum and The Witch dungeon Museum are both within walking distance of each other and both give factual accounts and portrayals of the hysteria from beginning to end. The Peabody Essex Museum hosts exhibits from the days of Far East trade to the natural wildlife of New England. There is also a wax and pirate museum for the kids to enjoy.

Relax and Have Fun on the Water

Salem is located on the Atlantic Ocean and has marinas, parks and beaches for your relaxing pleasure. Walk through Pickering Wharf with its diverse rows of shops and restaurants or enjoy the food, kiddie rides, arcades and beaches at The Salem Willows amusement park. Spend the day whale watching on one of their daily cruise excursions or dance and have fun on an adult only party cruise.

Accommodations in Salem

There are only two hotels to choose from in Salem so make your reservations early. The historic Hawthorne Hotel and the newly opened Salem Waterfront Hotel are both located near Pickering Wharf and are close to all of Salem’s famous attractions. If staying at a bed and breakfast is what you like, then you won’t be disappointed. There are an abundance of B and B’s throughout the city.

Other Places to Visit in Salem Mass

Stop by The House of Seven Gables and visit the Place where Nathaniel Hawthorne wrote his famous book The House of Seven Gables or visit an original colonial house like The Salem Witch House. If you don’t feel like walking, then hop aboard the Salem Trolley and tour the city and all of its attractions.

There is so much to see and do in Salem that you’ll never get bored. Have fun and enjoy!
