The below are some fabulous destinations where you can recharge your work batteries

Introduction

If you can’t get away to a faraway destination, a stay-cation is another great way to relax and recuperate before heading back to work. Locally, these are some great destinations to visit on your stay-cation.

Ocean Shores

Who doesn’t love the beach? This is a popular day trip that many people take because it’s close and there’s a lot to do in Ocean Shores. Camping, horseback riding on the beach, kite-flying, sun-bathing, playing in the surf, visiting curio shops – the list goes on and so should you.

Mount Rainier

If you seek nature and some form of quiet, a visit to one of our local volcanoes is a stay-cation worth taking. Camping and hiking will give you your form of quiet, but if you don’t mind crowds (especially in the summer), then check out the visitor’s center or eat a bite at the lodge all while taking in the wildlife and scenery of the sleeping volcanic giant.

Mount Saint Helens

Just like Mount Rainier, you’ll find camping, hiking, and the Johnston Ridge Observatory. However, this locale offers something more in that this volcano is very active and when you visit, you just may have a chance to see an up-close view of steam venting from this mountain. The drive is amazing albeit a bit long, but that’s part of the draw of a staycation—being able to take a road trip.

The Gorge

Travel to the southern part of our state and you’ll be treated to amazing views of the Columbia River Gorge. This is truly a wonderful road trip to take, not only because of the breathtaking scenery, but the abundance of wineries along the way. There are so many things to do in this area including admiring the stars and planets at the observatory in Goldendale, cooling off in the ice caves of the Gifford Pinchot National Forest, and letting the stress of work melt away at Carson Hot Springs Spa.

Conclusion

Of course there are many other destinations in and out of our state to help you recharge from the stress of your career (I personally practice this and my stressful ace writers work doesn't seem that stressful). It doesn’t matter where you choose to go, but actually taking time off should be a priority otherwise burnout is imminent. Remember, taking care of your mental wellness is a piece of managing your career.
