Rameswaram is one of the holy place where one can go for worshipping of Lord Shiva. The significance of Rameshwaram is associated with the Ramayana.


Rameswaram is the place where it is believed that Lord Shri Ram prayed Lord Shiva with full devotion. It is one of the temple where Lord Shiva is worshipped with devotion. The devotees throng the temple to have a darshan of Lord Shiva whom Lord Shri Ram prayed for cleaning his sins. Shri Ram Killed Ravana, mighty king of Srilanka (a Brahmin by Caste). It is well known fact that Lord Shri Ram went to SriLanka in search of Mother Goddess Sita along with Laxman . Mighty King Ravana kept Mata Sita under the Ashoka tree and after several request from Sita and failures of talks from Shri Ram, a war took place. Lord Shri Rama killed mighty king Ravana who is a true devotee of Lord Shiva. It is generally believed that those who kill Brahman commits sin. Shri Rama after defeating Ravana came to Rameswaram and installed the idol of Lord Shiva and prayed for forgiving his sin. Lord Shri Ram placed a idol of Lord Hanuman.
The temple is very ancient and mostly visited from all corners of the world. The temple is well connected with roadways and railways. The corridor is very long and people can enjoy the darshan of Lord Shiva in early morning. After having the darshan and aarti ,one can see the bridge made by Lord Shri Rama when he was marching towards the Lanka at Sethu Karai. The naga idols can also be watched at nearby temple. The sea beach can be enjoyed in the evening and especially on Saturday, Sundays and General Holidays people like to spend some time around the beach. The uniqueness of the beach is that sea don’t have waves in it. One can enjoy seeing the far off places easily.
The boarding and lodging facility is available. One can enjoy the climate very much. Rameswaram temple is better known as South Kasi. The floating stones at Shri Hanuman temple is worth watching.
