One of the avatars of Hindus named as Chaitanyadeb who was also called Nimai during the Bhakti cult age immersed his body in the Puri Beach after he attained nirvana. The Hindus believed he was the reincarnation of Lord Vishnu. Puri is also the site of Govardhana Matha, one of the cardinal institutions established by Adi Shankaracharya, with the others namely Sringeri, Jyotirmath and Dwaraka.

Dear Bedasruti,
Thanks for the excellent comments. The reason I could not give the photos of the wild life sanctuary in Nandankanan is because, the photos were taken in still camera. Had it been taken in digital camera, I would definitely have put them in.
Best wishes,
Souvik Chatterji.
