The mountainous “Land of Enchantment”, Puerto Rico hosts thousands of miles of beautiful beaches, an innumerable variety of aquatic, wild, and plant life, and lush tropical rainforest. Whether you like to hike, kayak, swim, bike, or study wildlife, many opportunities welcome you.

Magically Illuminated Kayak Adventures

Imagine your kayak gliding over magical looking specks of light on the surface of the water. The Bioluminescent Bays are an awe inspiring, rare natural phenomena that occurs in several places in Puerto Rico including La Parguera, Fajardo, and Vieques-Mosquito Bay, which is said to be the brightest. The optimal experience is on a warm, moonless night when the microorganisms called dinoflagellates illuminate the water’s surface.

Swimming in Rainforest Waterfalls

El Yunque is Puerto Rico’s protected rainforest region. This jungle paradise includes gigantic trees that soar into the sky, indigenous species of parrots and frogs, and thousands of native species of plants and herbs. La Mina waterfall is one of the more popular hikes. The route is dotted with natural pools that just may tempt you to take a dip.

Diverse Cycle Treks for Both the Unhurried and the Adventurous

Cyclists on Puerto Rican vacation can choose between off-roading with mountain bikes, or leisurely treks along scenic highways and coastlines. The islands of Vieques and Culebra are bike-friendly destinations. You can choose from rolling hills to beachfront roads to bumpy, muddy dirt trails. Bosque de Breas in Cerro Gordo is a composite of some of the best of Puerto Rico’s natural environments. Trails take you down jungly trails into picture perfect beaches facing the Atlantic Ocean.

Pack Your Bags

Puerto Rican vacations offer many exotic opportunities to experience a variety of unique natural settings. Get your bags packed and prepare for all the beauty and natural diversity that lies ahead.

Wikinut is an experiment for me with variations in tone and subject matter. I just want to understand what people who come here like to read, so I'm trying lots of different things.
