It is always advisable to learn some of the prevailing trends in the country you are visiting. It makes life more easier and your visit a little more pleasant.

Points to remember

Point 1
Park in a well lit spot and make a note of a nearby landmark.
Ensure to lock your car and leave all packages in the trunk.
Try to shop in the company of family or friends this will make you’re shopping enjoyable and you will have help to carry your packages.
If you are alone for some reason, do not hesitate to ask a security officer to escort you to the Car.
Most shops in Vienna are open from 9.30 am to 7.00 pm (Monday to Friday) and 9.00 am to 6.00 pm (Saturday). Sunday is closed.

Point 2
Always be alert in public places.
Do not flash large amount of cash when making payments.
If you notice anything suspicious, report it immediately to the authorities.

Point 3
In Austria ATMs are known as ‘Bunkmate’ they are extremely common and is accessible until midnight and some 24 hours.
Even villages have at least one machine and linked up internationally.
Instructions are in English and withdrawals are limited to Euro 400 per day.
Visa, Euro Card and MasterCard are accepted a little more widely than American Express (Amex) and Diners Club.
A surprising number of shops and restaurants refuse to accept credit cards. However, up-market shops, hotels and restaurants do accept cards.
Train tickets can be bought by credit card in main stations.
Credit cards also allow you to get cash advances at most banks.
Banks are the best places to exchange currency. Best bet is to convert the currency at your departing destination.

Point 4
Common mode of transport in Vienna is Taxi, minibus, minivan, limo and bus.
