Museums In Milwaukee

Milwaukee has some of the best museums in the United States. The following are the museums that Milwaukee has to offer to visitors that come to Milwaukee looking for different types of museums. If you are the types of person who loves museums these are great museums to go to for you and for the whole family.

Milwaukee Public Museum

The Milwaukee Public Museum is located near the downtown area of Milwaukee. The Museum has three floors of the most interesting exhibits for people to explore. One of the most popular exhibits that the museum has is the 'Streets of Old Milwaukee". This exhibit shows the different types of old buildings and businesses that was around and some that still exist today. A few other exhibits that the Milwaukee Public Museum that are shown to visitors to see are: North American Indians that offers scenes from a pow wow, a buffalo hunt, and a scene from their relationship with the European visitors. On display they display different artifacts of different thing that was made by the Native American Indians. From time to time the museum also offer different types of traveling exhibits that was on display for a period of time (with most recent exhibit was with the pirates). Some of the exhibits that was shown there was: Cleopatra: The Search for the Last Queen of Egypt that was on display in the fall of 2011 and Mummies of the World that was there in 2010.

Milwaukee Art Museum

The next museum for people to visit is the Milwaukee Art Museum, which is located by the lake, and it is also near downtown. The art museum has over 30,000 different types of art ranging from paintings and sculptures that is on display there and that covered over four floors. The Milwaukee Art Museum which averages over 350,000 visitors each year. Some of artists that is shown at the museum is from Andy Warhol, Frank Lloyd Wright and Pablo Picasso to name a few. They also have works of art from the European artists as well from Francesco Botticini, Carl Spitzweg and Camille Pissarro.

Milwaukee County Historical Society

For the people that are interested in learning about Milwaukee history can visit the Milwaukee County Historical Society. The Milwaukee Historical Society is located on Old World Third Street. The historical society is in a building that was formerly housed a bank. The bank had donated the building to the Milwaukee county. They have a collection of over 20,000 different types of artifacts that relates to the history of Milwaukee County and they are on display at the museum. On the second floor of the building they have a library for people to do research different things that might be related about Milwaukee. Another thing that it is interesting is the main vault from the bank is still in place inside the building and it is visible for public to see.

Harley- Davidson Museum

Have you ridden on a motorcycle that was made from Harley- Davidson. And if you interested learning more of their history and want to see all the cool and interesting motorcycles that they made from when they first started to make them. Then this museum is the place for you to come and explore. They are located in the east side of the Menomonee Valley and just a couple minutes from downtown. The Harley Davidson Museum has an impressive collection of motorcycles and different types of exhibits that are related to the company. And if you get hungry during your visit to the museum, then you might want to go to their restaurant (name of the restaurant is Motor) and get a bite to eat. And once you are finished with your visit of the museum, you might want to also visit and browse around at their gift shop and buy yourself and/ or your family a souvenir and have something to remember your visit to the museum.

Betty Brinn Children's Museum

The Betty Brinn Children's Museum is a museum geared for having some of the most interesting interactive exhibits. One of the main purposes of the museum is for the children to learn interactively with some of the different types exhibits that they offer, so they are better healthier development in their formative years (which is around from birth to ten years old). The museum is located near the lakefront and also close to the downtown.

I love museums and it is lovely to see the wide range that you have in your area. I am sure the Harley Davidson museum is a must for most families. All the buildings look amazing.

The art museum in Milwaukee would draw me like a magnet. Great guide for tourists to Milwaukee but also good for people who live there and are looking for some culture.
