A memorable day, July 7th, 2012, Marshall left Gatwick at 10:00 AM,
Bound for my home in Houston, Texas, his arrival awaited by his Nan.
Now ready to come to live with me, I felt so full of pride and blessed
Now I could stand down, off guard, and take a long awaited rest.

My Grandson is Here!

He will pray with me and then stay with me as I go to my resting place
With our Lord whose grand design has placed my grandson here.
Our time together is treasured, our Lord gives us strength from above.
I know I will live my life in peace and joy, with everlasting love.

Before my eyes, over the years, Marshall has grown from a baby to a man.
I went with him to his nursery school, I watched him in a school play.
He sometimes came to visit me and I heard him talk of his many plans
Never knowing there would come the day when I would need his helping hands.

Marshall At Home!

He walks with me, he talks with me, he drives my car and cooks,
He uses the vacuum cleaner and takes Pogo for an outing every day.
He has mended a hole in some sheetrock and even takes an unwanted call
He offers me a snack and tells me not to hurry in case I trip and fall.

He will accompany me to the hospital and listen to news good or bad
He will take it 'on the chin' with me and we will celebrate either way
Days are precious, not one will pass, without our thanks and prayers
The Lord has blessed me with the gift of a grandson who really cares.

As Time Goes By.

Days will pass, seasons change, days savored but never numbered
Time now precious, so much to realize, and be remembered.
My grandson is aware, he accepts and fully comprehends
Life will go on but I will be safe and at peace in our Lord's hands.

Days turn into nights, nights into days, our path sometimes unseen
But we will meet again for we will be blessed, together in our Father's home
I know Marshall will always be with me when I have passed away
And I will be with him, in his heart, as in a lingering, soulful song.

Marshall on One of His Visits.

But now he us here to stay!

Note from Author Ivyevelyn.
Marshall is very evasive about photographs and this is the only one I could find until he opens up all his suitcases.

Lovely... and wonderful. Grandparenthood is one of the few jobs I have found that has not been over-rated!

Thank you, David. Why did my grandson have to contort his face in this picture?

To you all: Obviously, I need some advice on placing photographs on my pages. I could not get rid of the large white spaces.

Steve: Is that really you! You moderated my page and gave me a star! Thank you for your good will. May we recognize each other as ardent writers who are prepared to "battle it out" in defense of our cause, whatever that may be. I acknowledge you as a moderator prepared to stand your ground as I stand my ground, even when the ground tends to become "wobbly", usually due to my being outnumbered. x.

My dear friend Ivyevelyn, this is such a heartwarming article, it has me in tears. As a grandmother myself and knowing the joy of seeing our grands grow, it is such a blessing you have your Marshall to be there with you. This speaks volumes of the character of your grandson and of you, to have been part of raising such a fine young man. No doubt times will be hard for you both but, you and him know where the ending of life stops here on earth, you will have a much better place to move on to. As your grandson will never regret spending these days with you and he will be stronger for it. Now after saying all of that, you are here and have not left us as of yet and you do have folks like me that are praying for you to have a total recovery. So keep the faith, either way (this is how I feel) you are in good hands. As always my friend, thank you for sharing.:)

Dear Denise: I was hoping so much that you would read this page as I always value your comments. Your message also had me in tears.
A few months ago, I felt very much alone with a certain amount of anxiety. (A lot, actually!). I just waited and prayed but I could not see a clear ending in sight. Over the last few years, Marshall has talked about maybe coming over here but nothing definite. Then, almost suddenly, the decision was made without prompting on either side.
Thanks again for reading and your supportive comment.

What a beautiful page. It is heartwarming to read this piece and feel the bond between you two. it reminds me of the bond i share with my grandmother and how me love to spend time together. Over the years, even though we might have less time to spend together, our bond has only grown stronger. Thanks for Sharing
