As you enter in Baraut, on Delhi road you will notice an industrial area. This industrial area is mainly occupied by wheel and axle manufacturing units. This post is to give an exposure to the industrial area in this township.

History of this industry in this town

If we try to shuffle history books, we will find that first industrial development program in India, had given this industry to our town. As told by some senior citizen in town, in early 80’s Baraut was among the top five wheels and axle manufacturers in Asia. This town was supplying axles and wheels for animal drawn vehicles to over eighty countries across the world.

Current situation of this industry

Currently, most of the factories of that golden period of this industry are closed. Although, a few of them are still functioning well and because of them, the industrial status of our town Baraut still exists. Their core products are for animal drawn vehicles, tractors and trailers. To understand more about this industry, I got some time with their owners. These units are not very big in size and certainly pretty small in terms of employees. Yet, their production is of high quality and they do have international clients along with clients in many states of India.

Modern Agro Industries

Vijay Jain from Modern Agro Industries said, “This type of industry is one of the oldest industries in Baraut. For last 45 years, our factory is serving several clients. In my father’s period animal drawn vehicles were in demand, hence the manufacture of axles and wheel was very much required. Now with the modern technology, this industry is not on that much peak. But still, this product is in demand in many developing countries like Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and many African countries. In Western Uttar Pradesh, you can easily have companies which are in this kind of business and having numerous satisfying clients in developing countries”.

Being in the company which is publicizing the name of our town on an international level, I was keen to get more insights about the production way of wheels and axles. With a gentle gesture, he allowed me to visit the manufacturing unit and I got some knowledge of their production method along with some photos from Modern Agro Industries Baraut.

Jainson Industries

On the same Delhi road, there is another pretty famous company named as Jainson Industries. They are also a renowned manufacturer of high quality wheels and axles for animal drawn vehicles. Mr. Jain owner of this factory was excited about this discussion and he said “This is really a nice initiative that someone wants to know more about our type of business.” He further added, “This Company is serving its clients since last forty years. Certainly in today’s time the demand of wheel and axles for an animal drawn vehicle is less than the demand on those days. But still, our product from Baraut is facilitating many clients across the country.” He was also a gentleman and allowed me to have some clicks in their production unit.

Glorious past is making their way for future fights

This type of business in Baraut has its glorious past. While talking with these two industrialists, I noticed that they are in this business for a long time and their next generations are also looking forward to catching the responsibility. This business zeal is very much required for a development of a town. Baraut was a famous name in this business. I wish them good luck and hope for some government industry boosting initiative to give them a chance to gain the same golden status again in near future.
