Here are some highlights of Colorado if you ever choose to visit.

Colorado

Have you ever stepped foot in Colorado? You will find an amazing place if you do. Now I have to admit I am not real thrilled with the flat eastern side of the state. But, from Interstate 25 heading west the state is one of breath taking beauty. There are numerous 14ers…meaning mountains with an elevation of 14,000 feet or more. Mountain climbing enthusiasts often aim to climb every single one.

One such peak is near Colorado Springs and is known as the famous Pike’s Peak. There are 3 ways to get to the top. You can climb it on foot, drive up or take the Cog Railway. When you get to the top there is a gift shop and snack bar. At a certain point, you pass the timber line and the rest of Pike’s Peak is basically a giant rock. Each New Years Eve there is a club that hikes to the top to light off fireworks at the stroke of the New Year midnight.

You will find Colorado is a high desert climate that normally has low humidity. The higher altitudes have very few bugs. For those who like to gamble there are a couple of good towns to head towards…Cripple Creek and Blackhawk. For the sports buffs, there are the Denver Broncos, Colorado Rockies, Denver Nuggets and a few other professional teams throughout the state.

It’s a wonderful place with beautiful sunrises and sunsets. It seems the mountains like a little different everyday depending on what the cloud formations look like. The air is thinner so don’t be too concerned if you feel light headed. Just drink plenty of water to preclude altitude sickness.
