Spectacular National Park located in Colorado Springs.

The Garden of the Gods

This spectacular park is a registered National Natural Landmark and is located in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Nestled next to the Colorado Mountains, it is a breathtaking site. The best part is that it is open year round and there is no admittance fee.

Open to the public

We can thank, Charles Elliott Perkins and his children for this beautiful public park. Perkins purchased 240 acres of land in the late 1879’s, his original goal was to build a summer house on it, but he decided not to build on it and instead to leave the property in its natural state. Perkins died in 1907, and two years later his children donated this property to the city of Colorado Springs, with the stipulation that the park remain free and open to the public.

Central Garden Area

The park has become a popular spot for tourist and natives alike. Located in the Rockies, the sandstone rock formation can be seen for miles, these amazing rock formations are a spectacular sight to behold. The colors are magnificent, shades of red sandy rocks, colorful wildflowers and evergreen trees.

Beautiful Rock Formations

Where else on earth can you find rocks in the shape of kissing camels, hog backs and there is even a huge balancing rock. Such a fun place to visit and to photograph.

Garden of the Gods is recognized as one of the best, most easily accessed climbing sites in the state, and has over 100 named routes. The rocks are particularly pretty near sunset, when the colors grow in intensity. It’s a park that combined with the orange sunsets and the purple mountain backdrop is like no other place in the world.

Balanced Rock

The park offers educational classes, guided walking trails, horseback riding and endless miles of landscape to explore. The park is perhaps the most photographed spot in Colorado Springs. Individuals head out to the park to relax, to rock climb and to recite their wedding vows. The park has something for everyone.

So much more

Wildlife, natural vegetation, stunning rock formations and a spectacular view are what make this park a tourist attraction. If you haven’t had a chance to visit this is one place you’ll need to add to your bucket list.

A place to add to your bucket list

It's a spectacular place, a must see for anyone! Open Daily 9am – 5pm (Labor - Memorial Day). And, when you go, don't forget to take your camera, as you can see this place is gorgeous!

Nice spot. I was in CS only once, for a conference at a classic hotel out past the AF Academy. Lovely landscape!

I'm sure you've been to many cities. I bet you've gotten the chance to see a variety of sites, that is the perks of attending conferences, isn't it! Thanks for the comments!

Lovely write-up and what stunning pictures, Teila! We are beholden to Charles Perkins and his children for such a kind gesture. First, I have to get out of Asia and then head up North! Thanks for bringing these to us. Of course, I have heard of Colarado Springs et al. We are indeed blessed in many ways! - siva

I READ THRU "BEAUTIFUL ROCK FORMATIONS" and I would have called this park; "The Park of Angels." Your description of landscaping; AWSOME!! "....red sandy rocks, colorful wildflowers and evergreen trees." Lovely indeed!
Smiles, Bets
