These fruits are rare and can only be found in rain and tropical forests or swampland.

I found them in South Kalimantan

When I was in South Kalimantan, I found some fruits that maybe you will never find in other places. The fruits are very unique and they only grow in swampland and some tropical forests or even they only grow in mangrove forests.

Kapul Fruit

This is a small fruit and the diameter is only 5 centimeters. It has brown rind and the skin inside is white and soft with hard seed. The taste is sweet and rather sour. This fruit is usually found when summer comes.

Rambai fruit

It looks like grape but the rind is brownish. The skin inside is white with single seed inside the skin. The taste is sweet and rather sour. Very fresh. It grows in rain forests. If you want to eat it, you must peel the rind with your hand. This fruit is sowed only by birds and can not be cultivated.

Binjai fruit

It has around 15 centimeters long and the diameter is about 10 centimeters. The rind is brown and the skin inside is white, It has big single seed inside the skin. The fruit can be found only in rain forests and the tree is very big and high. You will not be able to cultivate it because it needs its own surroundings.

Pempaken fruit

Have you ever see durian? The pempaken fruit is almost similar with durian. It has thorns on its rind. The color of the rind is green when it is unripe and will be yellow when it's ripe. You have to use a knife to peel the rind out because the rind is very strong. The fruit has unique sweet-scented and the taste is very sweet.

Tarap fruit

The rind of this fruit is soft and the skin is yellow. Diameter of the fruit is 20 centimeters long and the rind color is brown. Its taste is very sweet.

Bundar fruit

The rind is red and the skin is white with small seed inside the skin. The diameter is about 5 to 8 centimeters and the taste is very fresh and sweet. It can be found in mangrove forests. You will never be able to cultivate this fruit because of its uniqueness.

Ketapi fruit

The rind is yellow and the skin inside is white with single seed. The diameter of the fruit is about 5 to 10 centimeters. The taste is sweet and rather sour. You may find it in the forests.

Excellent info on exotic fruits. As you said the one looks like the Durian which can be found at some ethnic stores here in Canada.

Thanks for your further info. That fruit is very cheap in South Kalimantan, it's only 3,500 rupiahs. What about it at your place?

Hi, I am just dropping by. Thank you for sharing the info~ The durian-like fruit actually attracted my attention. Does it taste like normal durian? By the way, I do found rambai and tarap being cultivated in Penang Tropical Fruit Farm~! Though not many, like one or two only but they are at least, being planted!
Also, I saw lots of Tarap being planted in Sabah too. And it is the fruiting season currently. Cheers!
