Hi, this page, contains, my experience, from the Everest Base Camp, trek, I went for in the year 2010. I would be including details, such as, best time, group size, visa requirements, expenses, do's and don'ts, clothing, luggage, travel guide details, and other suggestions etc.

Best Time

The Best time to visit the Mount Everest, and go on the Everest Base Camp Treak is during the Months of April and May.

Group size

It is best to have a small group, in which each member is comfortable with the other, because it is very important, larger the group more difficult it is to track people and keep up with them because, not all would have the same walking speed, and hence there are chances of loosing members. Another important aspect is to have all members of the same or similar fitness levels. It is suggested that people with asthma and other breathing problems avoid this trek. An ideal group size is 3-6 members. In case of any health issue, there are emergency help lines, who would provide helicopter facilities, to airlift people , back to Kathmandu (Nepal).

Other Travel details, such as visa, expenses, guide, and duration

It is important that, once the trekking group is agreed upon, then, they 1st approach their nearest trusted travel tour operator, and book their tickets, and also contact their tour operator to appoint a guide for them. It is important to note, that all persons, expect the CITIZENS of India, require a Visa to Nepal and only with the Visa, would be able to go on this trek. There are different routes to the EBC (Everest Base Camp), it is suggested that, the group based on aspects such as number of members, age and fitness levels , and trekking experience chart their own routes, in consultation with their guides and tourist operator. Generally the cost for this tour may be between 3-4 lakhs, (however may vary, based on differences in travel preferences etc.) And if the easiest route is chosen the trip may last for at least 15-20 days up and down. Provided all goes well.

Clothing, gear, do's and dont's

usually on this trek, every trekker carries a set of all essentials, his jacket, sweater, goggles, some snacks and lots of water with him self in his back pack and all other luggage is carried by a porter (who can be hired in nepal or through your guide). You would ideally require, good pair of trekking shoes, and it is important that u have used it previously to avoid any blisters on your trek which might affect your leg and travel.

however there are many adventure gear shops, enroute to the everest, however it may be a little expensive.

Does and Dont's- It is very important that each person, sticks to the group while trekking, it is important that you take full responsibility for your actions, please do not litter any where because it is important that we protect such a majestic gift of nature such as the Mt. Everest.

Thats it, hope this article would help those who are wiling to trek to the Mt Everest, wishing all, the very best for their trek.
