A brief description of the city of Colorado Springs

One of America's great cities

Sitting just to the east of one of America’s most famous mountains Pikes Peak, lays the city of Colorado Springs, CO. Settled hundreds of years ago by Native Americans, the city played an important role in America’s westward expansion in the 19th century. Pike’s Peak, whose purple hue at sunrise inspired Katherine Lee Bates to write the poem America the Beautiful, later put to music, is the city’s greatest landmark and dominates the skyline.

Today the city is the second most populated in the state of Colorado behind only Denver. Blessed with abundant amounts of sunshine, and comfortable temperatures, the city each year attracts numerous outdoor enthusiasts from around the world interested in hiking, biking and exploring her wonderful parks and natural geological attractions like the Garden of the Gods.

The city has several colleges and universities that attract a diverse group of young men and women who later provide for an upwardly mobile, intelligent workforce.

Colorado Springs also plays a significant role in our country’s national defense as it is home to several important military installations and commands like North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD). The city is also home to the US Air Force Academy. As a result of the city’s connections with the military many defense contractor firms like Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, and Boeing have offices in Colorado Springs.

With its many natural attractions, pleasant climate, diverse cultures and consistent employment opportunities, Colorado Springs is a true gem of North American cities.
