Jagadhatri Puja at Chandannagar is worth watching. The decoration of the pandal speaks well about the devotion of the devotees.

The famous Chandannagar Jagadhatri Puja in West Bengal attracts everyone attention in the month of Karthik (Hindu Calendar Month). People throng various pandals to have a look at the Mother Goddess Jagadhatri. People welcome the Mother with all of joy and enthusiasm. The colourful lightning and well decorated pandals with drum beat make the mood of everyone much festive. People purchase flowers, fruits and sweets which are offered to Goddess with full devotion. Puja starts in the early morning and after the pujas pushpanjali (offering flowers at the feet of God along with prayer) is being done.
The womenfolk decorated the puja thali (plate) very well with Sindoor, Sarees, Sweets and other items. Oil lamps also look very attractive. The radiance of the face of the Goddess is worth watching. The entire celebrations begin from the Dusshera itself. The well decorated face of the Mother by the local artist are worth mentioning. Thousands of people visit the Chandannagar to have the blessings of Mother.After the puja, bhog Prasad (mid day meal ) is distributed among the devotees. It also includes kheer (Sweet dish) along with tasty tomato chutney. In the evening hour, the well decorated pandals gets much more attractive with cultural progammes and every competitions.
As the festival comes in the winter people generally put warm clothes and enjoy having tea and coffee at the various stalls near the pandal. The stalls put variety of dishes which can be enjoyed at nominal price.People also make arrangements for the immersion of the idol and womenfolk offer sindoor to mother goddess and put on friends, enjoy the festival every much. In some household also the puja is performed with family members and friends. Enjoying the festival after Dassera, Laxmi Puja and after Deepavali leave the wonderful memories in one’s mind.
