Negara Brunei Darussalam is part in the island of Borneo surrounded by the state of Sarawak, Malaysia. This Islamic Kingdom is a complete representation of how Malay culture is held valuable and nourished as time in memorial. A sovereign state that quoted as an "Abode of Peace" located in the Southeast Asia is a discovery of local and international tourists.

Exploring the Jungle of Temburong

One of the four regions in this little country, Temburong holds the untouched and unspoiled area of living proboscis monkeys, snakes and other wildlife. Cutting through the river that separated the mainland and Sarawak, Malaysia, its dedication to preserve this haven of varied ecosystem is a destination of an adventurous tourist. Lining-up the river near the city center are the infamous Brunei stilt houses.

Kampung Ayer via Taxi Boat

Diverged from the city center are the seemingly floating houses on the water. This stilt village is one of the tourist attraction of the country. Riding on a speedboat, operators are just too willing to tour travelers around the water village. The residents, at the same time, are very welcoming and friendly to allow visitors to enter their houses and to mingle with them.

The Bustling Night Market

One of the must-experience activity during the night of the city is testing your haggling ability in their busy night market. One could enjoy their night out for this one simple food trip activity since the country prohibits nightclubs and drinking spree. Eating out and dining in this open market is a well-loved experience for foreigners who want to taste Malay and Chinese delicacy. This night market is a potpourri of vegetables, fruits and some others in a reasonable and even cheap prices.

The Mall and Rizqun Hotel

If you are mall rat who loves to spend spree, Yayasan and The Mall are two of the best shopping areas in the country. Moreover, The Mall which is located in Gadong is probably the best place to shop where it is concurrently combined with Rizqun Hotel, a 5-star hotel that merges modern and traditional architecture and comfort. It has large function rooms that could simultaneously host an international conference, a wedding and a ball.

Bandar Seri Begawan and His Majesty

At the heart of the city lies Brunei's greatest pride, Jame' Asri Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Mosque is built to commemorate the current Sultan. This gold-plated masjid is a symbol of a the country's rich influence of Islamic religion and Muslim's architecture. Getting there in the palace takes only 6-10 minutes from the bus central terminal.
Visitors are admitted when it is not used for praying. Nonetheless, you can scout around the area silently when people are meditating and praying.

This is such a breathless site both day and night!

Tourists can also visit the, Brunei Museum, Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque and the Istana (Sultan's Palace).

Truly indeed, this stunning small country has a lot more to offer!
Enjoy your visit here!

No. I traveled here as a tourist last November when I had my Asian tour. I worked in a day there out of my curiosity. It was really a great experience!

Excellent information on travel in a part of the world most are very unfamiliar with. Borneo seems so exotic.
