When travel time is at a premium, using local tourist hop on hop off transport enables you to see the most popular tourist attractions in a minimum of time.

What is Hop On Hop Off Transport?

Quite often when on a travelling holiday it is not only money that needs to be budgeted, but time as well. Unless you plan staying in one place for an extended time, there's sometimes the need to see as much as you can of a destination in as short a time as possible.
Many places offer an affordable hop on hop off transport, often on a bus or tram. Depending on the ticket you choose to purchase, you can travel around a predetermined tourist circuit over a selected period of time, usually 24 or 48 hours. Within that time frame you can get on and off the bus or tram as many times as you wish, enabling you to spend time at the places you most wish to see.

Advantages of Hop On Hop Off Transport

The predetermined course usually incorporates most of the most popular tourist attractions in the area. Not all of these will appeal to everybody though, so at each stop you can decide whether to stay on board or spend some time at that place. Or you can simply travel the entire circuit, just getting a general feeling for the area, returning to selected sites later if you have time. That gives you an orientation into the city or tourist spot in a short time.
Often the transport provides a commentary explaining the various places you are passing, not only the places the bus stops at. If this is working well, it means you learn a lot about the city you may otherwise not have known.
Riding on a bus or tram certainly eliminates a lot of long walks between places, leaving you too tired to enjoy them.

Prior Planning Helps

If possible, obtain a map of the route being covered before you start and familiarise yourself with the area and tourist attractions covered. That way you can decide how many stops you have time to make and how long you will stop at each place. Know the frequency with which the bus passes by each stop, this varies from place to place.
For example, while in Hobart, Australia recently, the bus only passed by once an hour. Consequently we chose to spend two hours at the beautiful Botanical Gardens, enabling us to have lunch and enjoy the gardens without rushing. It did mean we had to cancel another planned stop though.

Enjoy New Sights at a Pace and Budget that Suits

By choosing hop on hop off transport you can make the most of your holiday or vacation, structuring it to the time and money you have available. Knowing where you want to go and what you want to see ahead of times helps you make the most of your stay.
