When whole world had heard about hindu muslim riots in Muzzafarnagar district which is no so far away from this place, this town was an ideal example of peaceful atmosphere and great integrity. Here, people love to help each other without considering the religion in between their relations.

Peaceful Atmosphere

I was in my home town Baraut to meet my parents. During this visit, alias holidays, I met lots of my old friends and some of the reputed persons in that local area. During these meetings, I had noticed many aspects of my hometown. One of those aspects is the integrity of religion.

Religion diversity

In this small town of Baghpat district of Western Uttar Pradesh, there are several religions. People of this town belong to Hindu, Islam, Jain and Christen. The population of this town can be categorized in to Brahmins, Jains, Agrawals, Jat, Muslims and Christens. Despite this diversity, there is a great level of peace in this township.

Famous holy places in the town

This town has several temples in the town area and in nearby places. There are over 30 hindu temples, Jain temples and Arya Samaji temples. Those who belong to hindu religion have heard about famous thakurdwara temple of this town. This temple is famous in Western Uttar Pradesh. If you ever get a chance to visit Baraut, you must visit this ancient temple. There are two jain temples famous among jains across the world. Bada Jain Mandir in Baraut is quite a renowned temple even in jains who are living in US, UK and Australia. Simultaneously, phoos wali masjid of Baraut is a renowned masjid among muslims in Uttar Pradesh. There are also two churches in this town. One of the church and missionary is from the British kingdom in India. Although these churches are not in that much good condition as there are not so many christens in the town.

No riots in last hundred years

This town sets a great example to whole country by setting up a record of zero riots due to religion differences. Here, Jains , Brahmins, Muslims, Chirstens and Jats all are leaving peacefully by giving respect to each others religions.

You should come to Baraut and see Dashlakshm Purv celebration by Jains. This is a religion based celebration and many jain munis come to the town for this celebration. During their jal purv celebration, each citizen of the town come to support irrespective of their religion based differences.

Same goes at the time of Eid celebration, Christmas celebration, Diwali and Dushara, everyone in Baraut enjoys festival in a full swing. People love to attend each others festivals and maintain the peace in the area.

This is really something which is required to be learned by other areas of our country. I love to salute citizens of Baraut for this peaceful atmosphere. If you want to know more about Baraut or you want to visit this town then have a look of the town’s website. – Welcome to Baraut
