A day out with friends exploring the unexplored after a long stressed office days
Planning a weekend trip
Be at office by 8.45 AM, only 15 mins for lunch and leave late from office. Same thing followed every weekday. It was high time to plan a weekend outing. Booked my tickets from Bangalore to Pune, called my friends in Pune and finalized a plan to just go out, spend some time together and breathe in open air. I left for Pune.
The journey begins
Getting up early on a monsoon weekend was a tough challenge. But we had no other option. A friend got his car. I and one more friend joined. On the way we had breakfast and got the fuel tank full. Driving down the Pune – Mumbai highway, lush green hills on either sides of the road, cloudy weather and loud music was the perfect setting for a wonderful weekend. The start was awesome. We diverted from the highway to travel to a village “KHANDI”. Now it was a single lane road with fields, farms, hills, waterfalls throughout the way to Khandi. Every 2 kms drive we halted to admire the 15-18 waterfalls on the way, click few snaps and enjoy the beauty. We clicked numerous snaps of the nature and also ourselves in all sorts of idiotic poses.
At Khandi
We reached Khandi. It was a village with not more than 20 houses. We asked the villagers about a huge waterfall there, firstly they denied of any waterfall nearby. One of us knew the local language so we started communicating in their language. After a long conversation they agreed to help us. The locals said that they will cook for us till we are back from that fall. Three locals guided us to the hill from where the fall was visible. We went down the hill to reach the bottom of the fall. Who wants to miss getting under the fall once you reach there? It was simply awesome. We spent an hour there.
Lunch & Back
After a wonderful natural shower we started climbing up the hill. It was 4 PM when reached their house; they had prepared a proper non-vegetarian meal for us. This was something I never had in my whole life. Superb food after an awesome travel/trek was like icing on the cake. We thanked everyone there for their help and gave some money. This brought the same happiness on their face which we had after the daylong activity. We then left. When we were travelling back we could not stop ourselves to halt again and again and do the same thing we did in the morning. This time it was dusk so it was again worth halting.

When most people think of India they think of crowded cities and not the natural areas. Thanks for sharing this experience of travel with us.
