Guwahati is often regarded as ‘The Gateway of North-East India’.

Festival Of Assam:

Bihu is the primary festival of Assam. It is basically of three types that are held in different times of the year, namely – Bohag or Rongali Bihu, Magh or Bhogali Bihu and Kati or Kongali Bihu. Assamese People:

The people of Assam are great; especially the villagers. The people living in the cities are not much different from those living in the cities of other places, if you know what I mean; but overall, the majority of the people in the state is very welcoming, helpful and good natured. Also, almost all the people are of Asian ethnicity, Brown and naturally good looking.

The state also has a number of different National Parks and Wild Sanctuaries; the most popular being the Kaziranga National Park.

The rate of literate people is increasing day by day and has become significantly higher during the recent years. Assam also has a branch of the most prestigious Indian engineering college Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), called The Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati (IITG).
