When you plan on travelling abroad for the first time, there is a lot to which your mind gets occupied. This can be perilous as it can lead you to serious dilemma, and you may find yourself juggling between strange thoughts.

Start with the basics

It all starts with proper planning. Packing, airfares, hotel booking, etc. are so common and need not to be detailed out. What addition you can make to the list is printing a copy of your passport and other important docs. Leave a copy with someone you know back home for emergency purposes. Do not forget to keep chargers and adapters inside your backpack. You just can’t afford to live without your smartphone especially overseas.

Figure out finances

It is not about cash or card but a set budget can do the leg work you. As you plan other things, you must take an estimate what this trip is going to cost me? Now that you know your budget, study on cards you should take that can benefit you during your stay. Besides, it is better to search out the locations where currency exchange is possible other than the airport. You never know you might require cash in the middle of an event abroad.

Read a lot

This goes without saying that you must know about your visiting country inside out. Read about its culture, food, greeting habits, and other important things. Read what not to do when visiting that particular destination. Keep a travel guide with you and make sure you can count on one you have picked up. You are your own buddy when it is the first time that you are travelling abroad.

Be smart

Do you know most of the travellers ignore to get their travel insurance done? I might suggest just the opposite. It just gives you an additional advantage in times of discomfort (if any). While you are all alert and smart in working things out, you may require a few things like travel insurance, local country SIM, etc.

Rely on your guts

Now this might interest you a bit more. You understand that there is always a possibility of theft when you step outside of your home. And you surely do not want to take chances when you are travelling abroad. That’s why, be focus, be alert and rely on your guts. Most of the time, you would not fail in keeping yourself safe and secure.

Count on your smartphone

Kudos the technology that we are able to utilize its amazing offering well. Get important apps installed on your smartphone. It saves you time, money and energy. To list a few, Google Maps (navigation), Ajura (saving big on international roaming), Foodspotting (finding good food), etc. can save you a fortune while travelling abroad. I would consider all these tips as essential as this would lead to a perfect beginning and a satisfying end.
