This article tells about one of my greatest adventures in Oregon. Mount Hood is a perfect place to unwind while taking a vacation. It is a place to see and visit while in the state of Oregon. Plan your trip now.

Mount Hood

Mount Hood is one of Oregon's most popular and best skiing, hiking, and camping destinations. This 11,239-foot snow-capped volcano is a very prominent landmark of Oregon, which is located approximately 60 miles east of Portland. This cascade peak is the highest in Oregon and one of the most climbed alpine peaks in the United States. There are many popular attractions in Mount Hood where skiers, hikers, and campers can visit and enjoy any time of the year.

One of the best attractions in Mount Hood is the Timberline Lodge, which was built in the early part of the 20th century. It is one of the oldest and most popular places to ski and snowboard in the state of Oregon. Another one is the Mount Hood Meadows, which offers night skiing lessons and equipment rentals. Mount Hood Ski Bowl is another popular attraction, which is the ultimate summer sport destination. Hikers enjoy miles of gorgeous wooded trails that run up and down the mountainside. For spring and summer seasons, Timothy Lake is one place worth visiting. It is one of the largest lakes in the area and is great for fishing, picnicking, and hiking.

The Timberline Lodge

I've been to Mount Hood a few times, and in one of those occasions, I was with my family. We stayed at Timberline Lodge, one of the oldest and most popular ski and snowboarding resorts in Oregon. It offers very comfortable accommodations with the convenience of TV, ironing board, telephone, hair dryer, and fireplace, depending on your choice of room.

For dining, there are several restaurants to choose from. Conveniently located inside the lodge, they are all family-friendly and offer a large array of menus from fine to casual dining, with stunning views of the mountains. Try the citrus-grilled white salmon, a hearty Timberline beef burger, enjoy some hot Belgian waffles smothered with fresh strawberries and whipped cream, or simply curl up by the fireplace with a hot cup of the world-famous cocoa.

For amenities, the lodge offers wireless internet connection, game room, swimming pool, sauna, and fitness room. Laundry service is also offered but reservation is strongly recommended.

Mount Hood Activities

Enjoy your stay at Mount Hood. Whether you decide to be at Timberline Lodge, Mount Hood Meadows, or Mount Hood Ski Bowl, make your stay memorable and full of fun. There are so many activities for everyone that fit all levels of proficiency.

The Timberline Snow Sports Center has learning programs that are right for beginners and for those who want to sharpen their skills. Snowshoeing is a great way to experience winter wonderland. The sports center offers an all-inclusive package that will get you set up in the proper equipment and give you access to an amazing terrain for your adventure. For Ski and Snowboard program, everything is covered from first time on the slopes to rad moves on free style terrain. The Magic Mild Sky Ride will give you a spectacular view of Mount Hood, Mount Jefferson, and the Palmer snowfield. Take advantage of this summer activity program by riding the Magic Mild chairlift to the mountain's 7,000 feet level.

Souvenir Photo

There will be no fun without souvenir photos. The above picture was taken a few years ago when we stayed at the Timberline Lodge. It was just a weekend getaway, a short one but was good enough to be able to rest and relax. It doesn't matter which season of the year you want to visit Mount Hood. There's always something to do while you're there. Good for us, it only takes an hour drive to get there. If you are coming from a distant state, make sure you plan your trip in advance. It is also advisable to book your accommodation as early as possible.

I recommend this place to everyone. Next time you visit Oregon, make sure you visit Mount Hood and enjoy each minute of your stay.
