It is not a place where you can just pay homage to Gods by offering flowers and chanting mantras. It’s a place where you can attain higher knowledge spirit, the inner knowledge of the inner self.

Akshardham in Delhi

The Delhi Akshardham temple has been made by a charitable trust. It extends for 25 hectares of lush green area and is surrounded on three sides by river Yamuna. The architecture and design of the Akshardham temple is just wonderful. Inside the Akshardham temple is composed of pure white marble. In the living room is a beautiful example of the great work of artists with thousands of bells hanging in exile. In the outer periphery of the Akshardham temple is 108 goumukhs discharging water from its mouth. . In one corner, the Akshardham temple has a collection of unleashing ancient India and its history in a musical show held in the temple in which music is played along with the sources

Akshardham in Gujarath

In Gujarath the temple is self sufficient temple complex and is very commonly visited by the religious devotees and tourists alike. This place is full of education, entertainment, and enlightment. The architecture of this temple is just mind blowing. The ancient wisdom adds to the greatness of the temple. This temple is dedicated to lord Swaminarayan. The experiential exhibits of Indian culture are some of the additional attraction towards the Akshardham temple. The temple is spread over 100 acres of land. It is made entirely of white marble with a fusion of several styles of north Indian temple architecture. It is estimated that the cost of the temple was about 200 crore.

The construction of the temple took about 5 years. The Akshardham temple is great looking temple built entirely in sandstone and marble, without steel. It consists of in all 234 pillars, 9 domes, 20 quadrangled shikhars, stunning Gajendra Pith and 20,000 murtis. There are also statues of the great sadhus, devotees, acharyas and divine personalities. The temple is a fusion of various architectural styles of varied colored stones, pink and white. The pink color symbolizes devotion and the white marble symbolizes eternal peace. This temple dates back to 300 million years.

Terrorist attack on Aksharadham

On the ill-fated day of September 24th, 2002, this temple was attacked by terrorists. Akshardham carnage is a yet another international tragedy where the terrorists have taken lives of innocent men, women, and children in a senseless act of violence. Their act of cowardice is even more acutely felt since it was perpetrated in the midst of the very place that serves as an inspiring source of peace, harmony, and tolerance.

Just wonderful information the Akshardham Temple. What a lovely place. I love the story and the photos are breath taking. What a lovely page. I am so sorry it was attacked by terrorist, you would think they would leave such a peaceful place alone, so sad. Thank you for sharing.:)
