Located on the West Coast, California is the most populous state of America. Presence of Mediterranean type of climate and California Vacation Rentals has made it a favored tourist destination in the world.

Some of the Most Important Attractions

Los Angeles (L.A.) is the largest city in the state and is also home to Hollywood, the historical center of motion pictures and movie stars. The large Hollywood Sign in the Hollywood Hills is a famous landmark itself. Known as the “Entertainment Capital of the World”, L.A. is home to the Walt Disney Concert Hall, Getty Center and the Kodak Theater. The Griffith Observatory is also a very popular tourist attraction with an extensive array of science and space related displays.

The city of San Francisco is also a popular international tourist spot, well-known for its rolling hills and chilly summer fog. The city is a mix of contemporary and Victorian architecture. A pair of hills known as ‘Twin Peaks’ forms the highest point in San Francisco and is also a popular overlook spot for the visitors. The parks and beaches that make the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, attracts more than thirteen million visitors every year.

Placed about two hundred miles northeast of Los Angeles, California, Death Valley National Park is a strangely beautiful place with spectacular desert wildlife and scenery. ‘Death Valley’ has been named after the gold seekers who died crossing the valley during the California gold rush. Camping during the hot summer months in this area can prove extremely challenging as it is one of the hottest places on the planet. So it is always advisable that you carry plenty of drinking water while visiting this area.

The city of Santa Cruz has also become popular among the tourists and is home to California’s oldest amusement park, the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. Santa Cruz is a surfer’s paradise along with plenty of seafood restaurants and unique souvenir shops. The Wilder Ranch State Park and the Santa Cruz Mission State Historic Park are excellent for a family picnic.

The Bridalveil Waterfall in the Yosemite Valley of California is visited by millions every year. The fall flows year round but when the wind blows briskly, it appears to be falling sideways. To make things even stranger, the falls often don’t reach the ground, when pressure of water is less. The Ahwahneechee Native Americans called this waterfall ‘Pohono’, meaning the ‘Spirit of the Puffing Wind’.
