Gain some knowledge about some romantic hotels that are really special and at very low prices. Learn about some bargains in Medan, Indonesia.

3 Ultimate Romantic Hotels At Rock Bottom Prices in Indonesia

These 5 star hotels have some of the best; most unique features at prices that made me feel guilty because I paid so little. Medan, Indonesia is not a typical tourist destination like Bali or Jakarta. However, this place offers the ability to experience Indonesian culture, food, and hotels at prices that are unbelievable for the features received. Here are three places I have stayed with the prices paid and observations made.

Hotel Aryaduta

The price I paid for a room here was only $55 per night. I was fortunate to receive a room by the pool here on Valentine’s night. There were candles floating in the pool and a romantic event at the restaurant that overlooks this pool. The pool area is impressive even after the candles are gone at the Hotel Aryaduta.

My wife and I ordered a couple’s massage in our room for a very reasonable price. Not every night would be as romantic here, but rooms overlooking the pool or the city are special. In addition, the free breakfast buffet was worth the price of the room and was excellent.

J.W. Marriott

The ultimate luxury and service is available at the J.W. Marriott. I have stayed here twice and paid $89 the first time. A rare $70 special was discovered the second visit. The rooms wrap you in luxury with plush bedding and great views of the city.

There is an infinity pool on the 17th floor that gives you the illusion that you can touch the city. There is a free breakfast buffet with food from all over the world. Try Indonesian, Indian, American, or most anything that your heart might desire. The service and atmosphere is impeccable at this place

Grand Swiss Bell hotel

At $56 per night, this hotel gave the location that my wife liked best. You can walk from the hallway of the hotel into a beautiful mall. Restaurants and shopping are first class and very convenient. Rooms are very nice, clean, and the hotel is well maintained.

The pool area has a waterfall and spectacular area for relaxing. There is an exercise room next to the pool. The free breakfast buffet is great here also. Location is the big plus at the Grand Swiss Bell. Traffic and congestion in Medan can be avoided here because everything you need is a short indoor walk.

More Information About Indonesia and Medan

The new airport in Medan is fabulous and looks similar to the one in Seoul, South Korea. Most people in Medan only speak Indonesian, so except for the hotels it can be difficult to communicate if you do not know the local language. Enjoy the unique culture here and experience the bargain luxury. Also notice that romance seems more special where language seems to bond you and your partner together to not be understood by those around you.

Bill, thanks for sharing such a great article. Romantic getaways are the best. I loved the pictures. The picture titled "Hotel Aryaduta" is my personal favorite.

Thanks Bill. The name Indonesia always brings a smile to me as I spent five years in the most populated island of Java where the capital city of Jakarta is situate. I enjoyed the company of simple folks with a ready smile.

Medan is the capital city of North Sumatra where the famous Lake Toba attracts tourists from around the world. I may quote here from Wikimedia "Lake Toba is the site of a massive supervolcanic eruption estimated at VEI 8 that occurred 69,000 to 77,000 years ago representing a climate-changing event. It is the largest known explosive eruption on Earth in the last 25 million years. According to the Toba catastrophe theory, it had global consequences for human populations: it killed most humans living at that time and is believed to have created a population bottleneck in central east Africa and India, which affects the genetic make up of the human world-wide population to the present. This hypothesis is not widely accepted because evidence is lacking for a decline or extinction of other animals, including species that are sensitive to changes in the environment" - siva

Nancy, it is my pleasure. I took the opportunity as many would have heard about Yellowstone Super volcano but not this one. A similar eruption can obliterate civilization in this part of the world now teeming with billions of people! siva
