There are many mountains in the world, here are few extra ordinary mountains

10. Mount Thor

This Canadian mountain has a vertical drop of 1km the longest uninterrupted cliff face in the world.

9. Mid-Atlantic Ridge

The longest mountain range lie mostly submerged in the Atlantic and is roughly 10,000 miles long!

8. Gamburtsev Mountains

Located in Antarctica these are the most remote mountains on earth. Discovered in 1958, they are hidden beneath 600 meters if ice and snow.

6. Gangkhar Puensum

Its is prohibited to climb mountains over 6000 meters in Bhutan making the highest unclimbed mountain at 7570m.

5. Mount McKinley

The highest peak in North America is considered the coldest mountain on earth with winter temperatures plunging to around -40C.

4. Barberton Greenstone Belt

The oldest mountain on earth. Scientists have dated rocks from the area at 3.5 billion years old.

3. Annapuma

Set in Nepal, this is widely considered the Earth’s most dangerous mountains with a death rate of%.

3. Chimborazo

This mountain lies near the equator where the earth is widest. Its peak is the furthest point from the earth’s core: 6,384km away

2. Mount Everest

With its peak reaching 29,035 feet (8,850m) above sea level, this is the highest mountain on earth.

1. Mount Mauna Kea

If this Hawaiian island is measured from the seabed it is over 10,000 meters tall making it the world’s biggest mountain.

By the way it is Annapurna, not Annapuma.

I would add one further Mount Kilimanjaro - Not only is it Africa's highest mountain it is the highest free standing mountain in the world
