Here are some traditional Sundanese foods that maybe fits with your taste. You can find them when you visit West Java region in Indonesia.
Foods are Unforgotten
When we come to a new place, maybe the first thing we want to do is tasting some traditional and unique foods that we can not find in our own place. Foods create unforgettable memories in our minds. And when we come to Indonesia, every regions within Indonesia have their unique traditional foods. Here, in wikinut site, I want to show you some of Sundanese foods that maybe you want to look for during your travel in
West Java, Indonesia. The foods are so yummy for our dinner.
Carp with Mango Sauce
This is how Sundanese restaurants cook carp. Usually one carp (weight: 600 grams) divided into three and fried. Thereafter they flush some mango sauce on the fried carp. Mango that is used for the sauce is young mango, some pepper, salt, onion, and chilli are mixed in the sauce. The price of a plate of carp with mango sauce is around 45,000 to 50,000 rupiahs.
Nasi Timbel
Nasi Timbel is cooked rice wrapped by banana leaf. To eating this cooked rice, Sundanese restaurant will also serve us with some fried tofu, fried soya bean cake, fried or grilled chicken, and vegetables like fresh cucumber, green eggplant, cabbage and tomato with chilli sauce. The price of a package of nasi timbel is around 20,000 to 25,000 rupiahs.
Sayur Asam
Sayur asam means sour soup. It is just because during the process of cooking the vegetables, the chef add a little tamarind into the soup. So, the soup is little bit sour in taste. A bowl of Sayur Asam is consists of cut corn, long bean, calabash, cabbage and peanut. The price is only 7,500 rupiahs per bowl.
Pepes Ikan
Pepes ikan is cooked fish and wrapped it by banana leaf. Before cooking it, some seasonings are flushed covering the fish. They are mashed nutmegs, slices of basil leaves, slices of tomato, ginger, mashed turmeric and onion. Usually, there are pepes ikan made of tuna fish, big goldfish, mackerel and carp. The price is around 15,000.
