Punakha valley.

Punakha valley, situated around the Himalayas has a beautiful scenic existence. It is considered to be a great tourist spot.

Po Chu river.

Po Chu river is the male river which flows across the Punakha valley. It comes and meets the Mo Chu river which is the female river near a Tzong.

Mo Chu river.

Mo Chu river is the female river which flows across the Punakha valley. It also meets the Po Chu river which is the male river near the Tzong.

Union.

The point where both the rivers Mo Chu and Po Chu had united is also very romantic place. Visitors visit the place frequently.

Parks

There are beautiful parks around the rivers and the Tsongs in the city of Punakha in Bhutan. They are well maintained.

Punakha was the capital.

Punakha was the capital city of Bhutan before Thimphu became the capital in the 1960s. It is a still an important city of Bhutan in Asia.

Chorten.

There is a beautiful Chorten called Khamsung Yulley Namgyal Chorten where many visitors come when they arrive in Punakha.

Height.

The height of Punakha is around 4265 ft above sea level. It is at the foothills of the Himalayas so is cold during winter months.

Greenery.

Enter Punakha is very green. Due to existence of the Mo Chu and Po Chu rivers, the land is very fertile and that is why it is green.

Chimi Lhakhang.

Chimi Lhakhang is situated near a hillock in the centre of the valley in Punakha. It is dedicated to Lama Drukpa Kuenley. The temple was also called temple of fertility.

Punakha Tzong.

The Punakha Tzong is built at the centre of the city of Punakha. It has a very important role in the life of the Bhutanese.

Entrance.

There is a beautiful entrance in the Tsong in Punakha. Visitors are supposed to climb the stairs and enter the Tsong.

The courtyard.

The courtyard of the Tsong is very beautiful. The walls are painted white and there is white background. It looks nice.

The bridge.

There is a beautiful bridge across the Tzong and the river. It creates a very picturisque atmosphere around.

Evenings.

Evenings in Punakha are very romantic. The hills are beautiful. The valleys are romantic. The weather is charming.

Security.

There is tight security around the Tzongs. Information is collected about the entry and exit of visitors around the Tzong.

Place of stay.

There are good hotels around Punakha. They provide adequate accomodation to the visitors whenever they come to visit Punakha.

Visitors should visit Punakha.

Visitors should visit Punakha once in their lifetime. The place is really worth seeing and spending time.

Looks and sounds like a wonderful place to visit. I hope all is well with you and your family. I have taken most of the summer off to spend extra time with my family but, now I am back at work. Good to see you my friend. As always, thank you for sharing.:)

the rich historical, geographical, mythological, cultural heritage : has been so very beautifully shared in a pictorial form with a measured footnote.

it gave a novice like me an insight into a great place Bhutan.

what a book may not have interested me on the spurr, your effort has made it possible in an instant.

souvikji, i think, i have missed quite a lot in not subscribing to your articles on a regular basis.
