The Summer Capital of Philippines: Baguio City

Baguio City is a cool place for retreat on Holy week. It is a peaceful place for meditation and awesome place for lovers and honeymooners.
The City of Pine Trees
Baguio City is the summer capital of Philippines. It is also called "The City of Pine Trees" because of its clusters of pine trees, planted in rows surrounding the city area. Baguio City is located in the Northern part of Luzon. The city is approximately between 250-300 kms. away from Manila. To get there you would have to take a motor cycle, car, jeep, bus, choppers and other vehicles for land and air travel.
The road going to Baguio City is well constructed. There are two routes going to the city. You can take Kenon road which is the short cut way. This is a zigzag road. The other route is through Marcos Highway which is a long road. It would take you between five to six hours to reach the mountain city.
Baguio City is a cool place, standing robustly on the top of mountain. The city’s temperature is adaptable by anyone. But you are adviced to use sweaters or thick jackets especially at winter. When you get there you could see many beautiful spots that are good for excursions.
There are restaurants and fast food chains that offer international and local cuisines. The people of Baguio City are the Itnigs and the Igorots. They are loving and friendly people. There are shopping malls where local and imported good are sold. The prices are affordable in dollars or in peso. There are many native handicrafts sold. They are made beautifully for souvenirs.
In Baguio City, there is the Camp John Hay – a historical camp occupied by the Americans during its occupation in the Philippines in world war II and ended in 1991. Now the Camp John Hay has been renovated and is now called “Club John Hay”. The Club John Hay has a wide place for golf. The club offers Golf courses too.
Baguio City caters the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) – the most prestigious school for military training. There are hundreds and thousands of students enrolled and have been trained to become officer-soldiers. Another attraction is the Church of Lourdes standing on the top of the mountain. There is Imelda park planted with hundreds of different variety of flowers and a place for horse riding. Also schools, colleges and universities.
