The Angkor Archaeological Park consists of many dozens of temple ruins built by the kings of the past glorious empire in dedication to their religious beliefs and/or powers. The ruins have seen through passages of time and are built in various designs influenced by Hinduism and Buddhism. These are only but a few covered in a day’s time.

- Ta Prohm ~ dedicated to his mother by King Jayavarman VII

There are 37 standing towers of carved faces, most of them spotting 4-sided faces to the king, bodhisattva or other religious figures

A pyramid that requires much climbing to reach the top. Legend has it that the golden tower crowned the temple and was inhabited by a serpent which would transform into a woman & the kings were to make love with her every night to save themselves & their kingdoms.

Massive fig & cotton trees have grown from the towers & looks like the temple grounds had been “gorged” by the jungle…
Angkor Wat
Angkor Wat was built by King Suryavarman II in dedication to the Hindu god, Vishnu. It is consisted of 3 layers and surmounted by a central tower.
The temple ground is surrounded by a moat that is
a surrounding water way
