Barstow Intersecting Highways
Finally spotting a Barstow RV park after seeing tempting highway signs along the way can be a welcome relief. This is especially so when you’re traveling through the hot desert on a summer day when the temperatures are climbing. The city of Barstow is located in California, at the entrance of the historical Mojave National Preserve. It provides an excellent place to go camping in California. There are two very important interstates and highways that intersect in Barstow. They are highways 58 and 247 and Interstates 15 and 40. Barstow is actually “midway between Los Angeles (L.A.) and Las Vegas.” Both Las Vegas and Los Angeles are among four of the popular locations that are very easy to accesses via Barstow.
The Barstow California Area
The highways and interstates help provide much of Barstow’s traffic and tourists. Typically, RV travelers use Barstow routes when on their way to Vegas, Los Angeles, Arizona or Utah. Just off Highway 58 is Barstow’s Shady Lane RV Camp. Yermo, and Newberry Springs are two California cities that are a few miles from Barstow. Both these nearby locations also have RV sites.
Do you need a park with pull-through sites or that can accommodate big rigs? Then Shady Lane RV Camp is the spot. They are a 33 site RV park. It is relatively small, but they provide access to water, sewer and 50 amp electric hookups. Cable television is available, but they don’t provide internet or telephone service. Located just off the I-40 in is the Barstow Calico KOA Campground, in Yermo California. This is a 70 site KOA Campground and is also referred to as the Yermo KOA. It is less than 12 miles from Barstow and they provide full hookups, hot showers and other standard amenities, including laundry facilities. Not only is there a pool, a playground and a climbing wall for the kids but also a game room and archery range. Barstow Calico KOA is known for providing free Wi-Fi.
Benefits of Barstow RV Parks
The Shady Lane RV campsite is a family oriented, pet-friendly location that is an excellent rest spot. If you want to take a break from the RV, there is plenty to do at the park and in the surrounding area. For an exciting experience, you can stay at the Calico Ghost Town RV Park, where they have 253 campground spaces. This includes their full and partial hookups, cabins and a bunkhouse. There’s something to do all year long at Calico Ghost Town RV Park. You can enjoy music, dancing, and a number of seasonal festivals and other activities. Whether you visit at New Year’s, Christmas, or sometime in between, you won’t be disappointed. The whole family can enjoy the excitement that comes from a stroll through the historic Calico Ghost Town, located just above the canyon that is home to the RV Park.
Other Parks to Consider
Barstow California RV parks provide a necessary retreat from the dusty, endless road. According to the KOA Barstow, “The campground is focused on providing a pleasant and restful change from the rigors of a day on the road”. That is exactly what travelers get when they stay at RV parks in the Barstow area. Twin Lakes RV Park in Newberry Springs is another choice for an available RV park near Barstow. It is located about 20 miles east of Barstow, and has 25 RV sites with standard features and full hookup. This park also has fishing and a provides a Recreation Hall for other fun activities.
