Planning A Summer Vacation to Vancouver, BC

I have not had a proper holiday for years, and am like a little kid excited for my summer trip, which is planned to take us into British Columbia and through the interior.
I need a Vacation
For the past few years I have not been able to take what most people call a real vacation. My wife and I bought a hobby farm and got jobs in the area shortly after moving in. The only place to work is a small tourist area about 10 minutes from where we live, unless we wanted to make a 45 – 1 hour drive to a larger city. Anyhow when you work in a tourist area it sometimes means you do not get proper holidays in the summer as that is when most employers demand your time.
Leaving for a holiday was also difficult with the sheep, donkey, llama, and other farm critters (we had ducks, chickens, pheasants) and as such we never really went for any more than a 3 day, 2 night trip. But this year is going to be different.
I have changed jobs and now am I allowed proper holidays! We are not going to keep as many birds this summer, perhaps just a pair of doves or pigeons, and as such it won't be so hard to find somebody to watch the farm when we are away.
Summer Holiday Plans
We are planning on driving from our hobby farm near Edmonton, Alberta, to the west coast of Canada, to Vancouver specifically. I have never been. I am from Michigan originally, so this will be a first for me, although my wife has lived there in the past.
It is months away but I am excited already.
We will pass through the famous Okanagan, perhaps we may get a glimpse of Ogopogo, the lake monster. Last year we had a 3 day trip and made it as far as Mara Lake in the north Okanagan, I thought Sicamous was great, but further south are the orchards and vineyards. There should be some really great fruit stands too.
I thought we might see some killer whales off the coast but my wife says this is not likely, however the area (Vancouver itself) we are going has been in the news lately for having human feet wash up on the beach...
Well as you can see I am really looking forward to my trip even though it is not until July. I hope to have some great pictures to share with you then, I have been mentally exhausted and have not really been active writing, I think I really need the trip to help me recharge.

It's not until July which still seems like a long way off. I am excited to visit Vancouver, while my wife dislikes large cities, I find I get recharged in them.

Wishful thinking now, because there has been recent flooding in the Sicamous area, which we will pass through on our way to Vancouver.
