Aside from being one of the natural wonders of the world Niagara Falls has a lot to provide the visitor. This provides a perspective with a local inhabitant of a few of the points of interest on the Canadian side from the river. The important thing aspect about Niagara Falls is the fact that there's so much to see and the scope of any article can only be very limited. Alongside the outstanding natural splendor there is shopping food and wineries to await your visit.

Remembering the First Time

The very first time I saw Niagara Falls was on a hot summer day, approximately 36 degrees celsius. One thing was certain the spray produced by the falls had a cooling affect. Years later I found myself living nearby and seeing the falls every couple of days. An visitor will enjoy this beauty place linked to this thundering river.

It's not the largest distance that water falls over the rock lip right into a valley below, but it's perhaps probably the most awesome display of sheer water energy found anywhere on the planet!

Lookup out of the Maid-of-the-Mist boat up at the waterfalls you are able to feel the raw might and energy of nature as the boat inches forward as near as it is possible to get to the torrent of water falling from above. At its nearest point all things are wet, the decks, heaven, you. Attempt to take a picture and also the camera lens is quickly wet. The boat is full with individuals who don't worry about being wet - they're transfixed because they stare in the wall of water before them. This really is possibly probably the most intense moment of searching in the falls since it is here the watcher feels possibly nearest to dying, one small slip at the hands of the crew and the boat is lost with all of hands sinking.

Power of Water

The truth is that the the amount of water flowing over the falls would fill your bath tub in a thousandth of a second. In standing pressed against the railing of the Maid of the Mist boat you experience shear exhilaration, like getting thrown around in a roller-coaster, yet this experience is 100% natural. The crew of the boat, however, are very skilled using their navigational abilities and also at precisely the right moment they turn left - this will make it another boat’s turn to steer upto the edge of the falls and fight the raging torrent.

Remember that nature is demonstrating its shear power to us fragile humans right at the edge of the falls. Slip into the river and you can die.

Be Prepared, But You Will Get WET!

One thing is certain about the majority of attractions at the falls - YOU WILL GET WET! All the points of interest offer waterproof capes to prevent you from getting too wet. With the existence of a lot water though there's lots of chances to get soaked. The places where you will get wet include:

* Viewing the Falls from Table Rock
* Journey Behind the Falls
* Maid of the Mist
* Cave of the Winds
* White Water Walk
* The Whilrpool Jet Boats

Wetness is par for the course at each of these attractions, but you will enjoy in the right weather.

The Canadian (Horseshoe) Falls

The Horseshoe Falls are by far the most expressive, yet they are almost impossible to photograph without the spray getting in the way. You should think of the memories from the viewing of the Canadian Falls, rather than showing others your photographs. Although it is possible to get good views from the following locations:

* At the junction of Fallsview Boulevard and Livingston Street.
* From the Incline Railway
* From the footpath at the Cave of the Winds

The American Falls

If you want a photographic memory from Niagara Falls then you are best having the American Falls in the background. Ironically the very best look at the American Falls is only available from the Canadian side of the rives and starts at the junction of Murray Street and Stanley Avenue. This is also the view shared by most of the top hotels such as the Marriott, Embassy Suites, Hilton, and also the Oakes. Start at the top of the hill and walk down Murray Hill between the Fallsview Casino and the Holiday Inn.

At the bottom there is a vista of the American Falls that is well worth looking at. Cross the Niagara Parkway and relax in the gardens before walking towards the Canadian Falls, past the Victoria Park Restaurant.

Places for the Kids

There are two primary places for the kids:

* Clifton Hill; and
* Marineland

Clifton Hill is open all year round and Marineland is open between the Victoria Day weekend (around May 24th) and the end of October, but it is well worth considering purchasing season passes as this allows a second visit for just about $5 more than the one day price. Take a look at the Waterpark next to the Crowne Plazza hotel on Falls Avenue for further adventures.

Take a Wine Tour

Wine tours of neighbouring Niagara on the Lake are certainly worthwhile for the adults in your party.
