The Indian tradition approach of treating every guest as an incarnation of god should go a long way in making India more tourist friendly.

How can we make India a tourist friendly

India the country known as the land of diversity is one of the most tourist visiting countries of the world. It is rich with a variety of tourist attractions like the river Ganga, Brahmaputra, Krishna, the mountains, the Deccan plateau, the great Indian plains and the western coastal lands. The great Indian ocean has been one of the greatest factor which links the tourism. Tourism today is the second largest trade in the world. It generates employment opportunities, brings in foreign exchange and raises all living standards. But even now we the Indians is not able to put our full potential to this process. We are now ranking in the position four among the world countries. Some of the reasons of low tourist movement in India are attribute to general recession in overseas market, communal clashes in the country, ill treatment of the tourists, theft and threatening. All the states have been requested to draw up their tourism investment plans on the basis of which a national tourism investment plan would be drawn to suggest what facilities are needed and what incentives can be made available to the tourists.

To improve the quality and to make tourist friendly and to enable the tourism sector to register a rapid growth a tourism synergy programme has been launched to develop the infra structure required. The government has also adopted special packages and special tourism areas with high tourism potential are identified and provided with infrastructural facilities. The transport system in India including the seaways, airways, roadways and railways has been developed in India in these recent years. The hospitality is one of the major areas that have proved to be an efficient way of marketing tool in boosting the tourist in India. But all this is not enough. The awareness given by the tourism department of India have helped in the involvement of more and more people in the tourism areas. With the sincere efforts of all those involved with the Indian tourism it is poised for a big leap in the years to come.

Lack of infrastructure and inefficiency are put-offs for tourists looking for value for money. China was a closed society but now booming in every way. India is not in the fourth place in world tourism rankings, much lower. Others like Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore attract more, leave alone Spain, France, Britain, China, USA etc - siva

Thanks for the comment sir.Rankings in any field is symbolical. It is true that other Asian countries have progressed leaps and bounds comparing to the Indian development. But all those Asian countries never had the resources that India has in the field of tourism.
Perhaps India is still one of the top countries in tourism because of that enormous resources.
