Sir Humphrey Davy and Sir Stamford Raffles established London Zoo in Regent’s Park, London as a place of scientific study in 1826. Now you can find 755 different species of animals in 36 acres (15 ha) land of London Zoo, which includes animals like lion, camel, giraffe, penguin, tiger, monkey, meerkat and many more.
Considering the comfort of various species of Animal, London Zoo was divided into many different areas. The authority of London Zoo opened it for public in 1847. Most attractive places to visit in the London zoo includes African Bird Safari, Animal Adventure, Aquarium, Blackburn Pavilion, B.U.G.S, Butterfly Paradise, Clore Rainforest Lookout, Giants of the Galapagos, Big Cats, Happy Families, Komodo Dragons, Reptile House, Gorilla Kingdom and Into Africa.
African Bird Safari is considered as one of the leading tourist attraction spot in London zoo. Established in the year 2005 as re-development of the Stork and Ostrich House, the area is built around 51 metres (167 ft) long and 10 metres (33 ft) high. While roaming around the area tourists can get the chance to see various species of African birds like Abdim's stork, superb starlings, Von der Decken's hornbills, Madagascar teals, Blue-bellied roller, etc.
Animals like Aardvarks, Red Pandas, Coatis, Yellow Mongooses, Prairie Dogs, Meerkats, etc are the main attraction of Animal Adventure part of London Zoo.
ZSL London Zoo aquarium is considered as first aquarium of the world, where you can get the chance to see fishes like Rudd, European Eels, Spiny Starfish, Pink Sea Fans, Copper Band Butterfly Fish, Electric Eels, Glass Knife Fish, Lungfish, etc. This was established in the year 1853 and considering the comfort of Fishes, it was divided into three parts.
In Blackburn Pavilion, you will get the chance to meet different species of birds like Toucans, Starlings, Kookaburras, Lovebirds, and Hummingbirds. On the other hand, in B.U.G.S section displays over 140 species including Leaf-cutter ants, Mexican Redknee tarantulas, Flamboyant flower beetles, Anteaters, Malaysian giant stick insects, etc.
In addition to these, in different section of London Zoo, you can also get chance to see various species of Butterfly, Geoffroy’s marmosets, Pygmy slow loris, Galapagos Tortoise, Malagasy giant jumping rats, five species of western lowland gorillas, giraffes, Zebras, African hunting dogs, etc.
