Mahabaleshwar was an ordinary site until the English rediscovered it and made some changes until it became what it is today. This famous tourist spot was improved in 1829 and was considered the summer capital of India. Mahabaleshwar proves that it is rightly called the queen of the hill stations in Maharashtra.

Panchgani: Another popular hill station near Mumbai is Panchgani. Its name means place of five hills and it lies 1300 meters from the level of the sea. Panchgani is punctuated with many picturesque spots including coastal plains and rocky terrains. Like Matheran hill station, Panchgani is also pollution free. The oxygen levels in the valley of Panchgani are way above the normal levels. This makes the area a popular healing place for people with sickness. This is not surprising because the fresh air of Panchgani has a lot of health benefits.
