A trip to Engleberg in the Swiss alps is a must. Engleberg is the perfect village for you to visit. Lots of wonderful hotels and restaurants and absolutely the best skiing in the country.
Engleberg
Engleberg, high in the Swiss alps above Bern, is a beautiful village for you to explore. Engleberg sits in a lovely valley surrounded by high mountains filled with ski slops that beckon. Cable cars and chair lifts abound and there are so many trails you could ski for months without going down the same trail twice. It is a true skier's paradise.
The town is filled with wonderful restaurants - each better than the next. Apres ski bars are filled with skiers drinking their favorite drink and relaxing in front of a fireplace after a vigorous day of skiing. My favorite part of the day - almost!
It takes a while to get up to the top of the mountain - several chair lifts are needed to get you to the top - but once you are there you can ski half-way down the mountain and turn around and hop on a chair lift to go back up. At the end of the day you can ski all the way down the mountain but be careful of shadows hiding mogules that might cause you to fall.
The slopes are well groomed and manicured and there are slopes for the beginner. At the bottom of the mountain I found the going very steep and challenged me to get down the last 100 yards safely. But I did it.
I enjoyed my time in Engleberg and hope that you will plan a ski vacation there soon. I know you will enjoy it!
