Founded in 1937, The city of Davao is now one of the largest city in the Philippines. It is located in the south eastern part of Mindanao Island, home of more than a million of inhabitants. The city was cited as the largest city in the world in terms of land area. This city also once holds the title of having the second cleanest water in the world base on a survey. Weather is not a major problem here since there are no typhoons visit this place unlike other parts of the country who were visited with typhoons in almost several times a year.
The city is home to a variety of tropical fruits including, bananas, manggo, mangoesten, pineapples, and most of all, the said to be king of all fruits, the Durian. Davao city is famous in producing Durian. It is a kind of tropical fruits with its strong odor and a delicious taste.
Also it is here where we can find the orchid named waling-waling, this orchid is unique only in the Philippines particularly in this city. Davao City is also home of the rear Philippine Eagle (one of the biggest eagle in the world). The peak of Mt. Apo (Philippines highest mountain) can also be seen here.
Department Store’s and Shopping Malls are rising providing shopping conveniences to the public. If you are a beach lover, then you can have it here in the city’s resorts or have it in Samal Island (as far as 30 minutes away from Davao), there you can find a lot of choices. There were also several mountain resorts to enjoy with if you are a nature love.
