Milwaukee is well know for being a great place by a Great Lake. There is so much to see and do here in Milwaukee it is hard not to list them all here. This is just some of the things what you can do here in Milwaukee.

Milwaukee

With the population of around 600,000 people living here, Milwaukee is one of the most segregated city in the United States. Milwaukee has a great and the most interesting history in over 165 years as a city. There is a lot to see and do here in Milwaukee. Some of the things that are in this article are some of the places that highlights some of the places are great to see while you are here visiting Milwaukee.

Mitchell Park Domes

The Mitchell Park Domes is a great place to go see different types of plants. There is three bee- hive shape domes to go through. The Domes are are as follows: The Tropical Dome, which holds the different types of plants that grow in the tropics. The Arid Dome, is where you can find the different plants that are able to grow in hot dry areas like the desert. And there is the Show Dome, this dome contains different floral shows through out the year. They also offer free concerts on Thursday nights from November through March.

To see more information on this please read my page on the Mitchell Park Domes.

Potawatomi Bingo Casino

Potawatomi Bingo Casino is in the heart of the Menomonee Valley. It is also very close to the city's downtown area. Went from just a bingo hall in the mid- 1980's to one of the largest casino in the state of Wisconsin. The casino offers different types of table games like poker, blackjack, roulette and more. They also offers slot machines, bingo, live entertainment in their theater and has different restaurants to tempt your taste bud. Recently they announced that they will be adding a hotel on the site.

Miller Brewery

Miller Brewery offers brewery tours usually runs every 30 minutes from 10:30 to 3:30 daily. It is fun to do, you get a chance to see how the brewery operates and makes the beer. You also get a chance to learn about the history about the brewery also. And after the tour you are able to sample some of the beers that they make. Summerfest

Another thing that Milwaukee is known for is being known as the "City of Festivals". Summerfest is one of many festivals that operate by the lake. Summerfest runs for ten days from late June to early July. Their is lots of music bands and singers to listen to from all the different stages that there is sorted through out the festival grounds. Usually on opening night they what is called the "Big Bang", it is a big firework display that they do each year.

To read more about Summerfest read my page about the festival.

Wisconsin State Fair

Wisconsin State Fair has a lot to offer for everyone of all ages. You can see different types of animals that would live on the farm. You can also go on the midway to play games and ride some different types of rides there. You can also eat the different types of foods that they offer like cream puffs, roasted corn, different types of foods on a stick and so forth. There is different types of contests for people and there is also judging of animals each day of the fair. I enjoy the going to the fair and try to go there each year.

Usinger's Sausage

One great thing that has been a main stay of Milwaukee and has been in the same location for all these years on Ola World Third Street has been Usinger's Sausage. Since 1880 they have been making sausage from their original family recipes when Fred Usinger brought here from Germany. They have a store attached to the factory where they can able to sell their products. Their products can be also found in other store around Milwaukee and they also can have their products shipped around the United States.

I grew up partly in Muskegon, Michigan right across the lake. Back in the 50s there was a cheap flight on a beat up DC3 that went back and forth between Milwaukee and Muskegon. So my friends and I would fly over to Mitchell field and take the bus out to baseball games. Right after high school I moved to Milwaukee alone for a couple months. I had PT jobs at the Y and at Zinn Malt Co. (I think that was the name.) Life got complicated and I had to join the Army. I always wanted to go back to Milwaukee, but never have. I enjoyed reading about it.

Milwaukee is certainly a great place to visit one day, my friend, that is, if I can afford it. At any rate, you did a great job in "bringing the mountain to Muhammad," so to speak. Congrats on the STAR page!
